next week insanity is getting even more insane with free player JOHN BUTCHER and young marble giants SHELDON SIEGEL on the 22nd and the goofed film eater FLORIS VANHOOF and belgium's best AF URSIN on the 23th at GUNTHER! on the 24th VOM GRILL and BODY/HEAD (kim gordon and bill nace) are playing at zaal belgië in assholed, on the 25th BODY/HEAD present their 7" on ultra eczema at scheldapen, where KIM PEERS will also play that night, on the 26th BODY/HEAD and VOM GRILL will play at occi in amsterdam while vaast kollos is closing his show down in mechelen, on the 27th i will close down my show at tatjana pieters gallery in hand, with a lecture by JOHAN ALEXANDER DE CEULAER! by then we will be ready for march, DARKSMITH will be destroying antwerp for a few days and play at GUNTHER on the first of march, him and a bunch of others play at kraak on the turt of march. these types of weeks have proved in the past to be incredible.

finally saw fassbinder's WELT AM DRAHT, absolutely sure right now that this is the best film i ever saw. 3 hours of visual and aural pleasure.

days without interweb, which is why we couldn't tell u about GUNTHERS FILM CLUB in time, for those who missed it, last night's film club was pretty great, unfortunatly ALEX DUMITRAN had to cancel because of a accident, though the japanese couple Makino Takashi and Rei Hayama blew some minds with dreamy and colourful perciseness and changing everyone's name, mine aparantly means "dead in the garden".

since a week or so i moved the ultra eczema headquarters to ERCOLA, a magical place in the very heart of antwerp, with a giant beautiful inner garden and a rich history in avant garde art. i took over the studio space of RTVS maxxer, ex situationist and architect RUDI RENSON and am very happy with it.

yesterday evening KRIS VANDERSTRAETEN played his first ever solo set, in a over 30 year long carreer in improvised music! i am realy happy with how his lp turned out, it will be available in a little over a week, as i am still in the middle of moving houses. his show at gunther was beautiful, sparse and subtile, the man plays his self build drum kit with anything he finds, a lot of people were there and actually listened, which was nice.

the woman on the photo underneath worked at the space where gunther is located in 1979 as a ice cream selling young lady, now she is a regular at gunther.

on sunday my new solo exhibtion titled IK VERHUIS NAAR HAND (BRULT) will open at tatjana pieters gallery in ghent, it starts at 3 in the afternoon, and in the evening MITTLAND OCH LEO are playing at the kinky star bar in that smae city! this is the first show where i won't show drawings, and it is also the first show i do at tatjana's gallery, tatjana always does 2 solo's at the same time, the other solo that opens on sunday will be by the dutch sculpturiste ANNE WENZEL.

ART PAPER EDITIONS published a nice small stencil printed book called THE CRAFT, by JURGEN MAELFEYT, it's full of decorated nipples, or nipples are decorating other stuff, that is for the viewer to decide.

sunday's show at gunther, by the leader of the Für Dich gang, and the dark prince of Leeds HERB DIAMANTE was a blast, enough people showed up, Für Dich did a reading while playing a sort of synth machine with the actual book, rubbing knobs in other words, and a microphone taped to the upper side of his face, and HERB did a creepy 40 minute long set of songs, while drawing on the air soaked windows and grinning like a mad man!



the last event of this year at GUNTHER, will happen on december 31st, in the shape of a party to spice da gunther! GUILLAUME BIJL, DANIEL DE WERLEDVERMAARDE BOTANICUS, FAESBINDER and MATCHBOX JEAN will dj, there will be zaufkarten and it will be cold, as cold as the year we are trying to end as soon as we fucking can!

finally, a big VAAST COLSON exhibition! opening tonight at cc mechelen, curated by his parents! can't wait to see it!!

sunday VOM GRILL played in tienen in a small bar called leopold, when me and cassis arrived some big sweaty guy with a bunch of vaguely placed jewlery ran out yelling and screaming, the same guy would be very present the rest of the night, performing as a kermis atractie! one act cancelled so wim of man generated played solo as SHIT ON PANDA, he brought 2 rats and some harshness! DREAM BEVERLY HILLS was on second, it's the solo moniker of pierre yves from liege, zonked drama tropica with some joppi sauce that was! than i played a set especially for oli diskoster's parents. in the mean time the police came over 7 times, and during CASSIS CORNUTA's set they showed up for the last time, they forced cassis to stop and pulled off oli's both arms, they also took oli's fancy bass amp and of course we must add they were violent and very rude. i dont know how it ended, how long oli was locked and if the amp will ever be returned, i certainly hope so.

on wednesday evening stilluppsteypa's own SIGGY BOY will be performing in a theatre play at the warande in turnhout!

yesterday's event at gunther was definatly one of the most akward one's so far.., a ton of people showed up, mainly after the nocturnal rundgang, MESSIEUR DELMOTTE asked me not to tell IDM THEFT ABLE that he wanted to perform at the same time as idm.., during idm's set 6 people had to carry delmotte around the space, aparantly delmotte is quite heavy, as most people couldnt carry him very long, so the people carrying him changed all the time, idm's show needs a little silence though as a lot of the sound is quite silent, i think idm was slightly anoyed with delmotte, and a lot of people in the audience were either anoyed by delmotte or idm, i very much enjoyed the confusing atmosphere.

afterwards we ended up at a bar next to the kathedral in antwerp where i saw sinterklaas tongue kiss one of the lvmm girls.



i saw the show of GERARD HERMAN at mosh and math ice gallery which is realy funny. i also saw KATI HECK's new paintings at tim from laere, which i also very much liked, less dirty, even more detail, and beautiful colours.

thursday night, the 8th of december another gunther night is on, if u don't know gunther by now, that is understandable, though rather sad as well.. gunther is shy, that's true, that's why he is hiding next to the policetower in the very centre of the universe. so yes, tomorow, thursday night, IDM THEFT ABLE, the strange maine based busker, beardo, builder and language destroyer is gonne perform at gunther, as well as the french simpliste MESSIEUR DELMOTTE, who finds joy in things people already forgot about a year ago.

gnarly times, the hair police already stated it a while back, together with a million other peopoltjes, as i'm locked behind or in front (from where ever you're observing me from) my tv, watching every single FASSBINDER movie again, i did not find the time to anounce the VOM GRILL SHOW last friday at the oldest artist space in holland, called ARTI in amsterdam, WHATSPACE organised a exhibtion there, vom grill played live, and luc sponzelee of de 6de kolonne deejayed in the old ballroom downstairs.



on saturday peter fengler organised another great event together with frans claus at WIELS in brussels, peter did his bar rock set, pierre bastien played a nice soundcollage that was a tiny bit too long for my inpatient taste, jan van den dabblestone did a great lecture about 15 century acapella music and linked it to a 60's BIRDS song, vinyl terror and horror from denmark destroyed more records than milli vanilli and i forced people to sing hip hip hip hoera etc.

on sunday LUDO MICH re-presented his boek 4 at gunther, which is re-released by für dich verlag!

on thursday gunther re-opens already, with some already legendary (how is that possible?) performances by the liege based hair specialist MESSIEUR DELMOTTE and the great portland maine based busker IDM THEFT ABLE! come after gerard hermans expo at faes and fat ice or kati heck's show at tim tam en tom gallery!

where to start with FASSBINDER, i saw a bunch of his films i can't remember titles of some years back and always promised myself a winter where i could see all of them.., that winter started last night, i started yesterday with the incredible SATANSBRATEN, very recognisable situations and lovely over acted madness! ready for more! 

last night's ULTRA ECZEMA MOET BLAZEN event at scheldapen was fun, only jewish people showed up, they chased out the girls, so unfortunatly there wasn't ANY girls. why did this happen? since i mangled in more in the area i live in (i live in the jewish area near the central station of antwerp, the jewish community has excepted me as a brother. as a way of showing their respect they decided to ALL come to scheldapen yesterday. they are so stoked they already uploaded a video of last night:

it's been a while since ULTRA ECZEMA has organised schnikies at scheldapen, though this thursday night, on the 24th, we are returning to a old skool dance knaller with the berlin based casio house master HEATSICK and the uk based electronic bandid DESIGN A WAVE! afterwards and in between the great electro dj RAPHAEL and the legendary hat and cacti collector dj DANIEL will spinn the wheels! come early and wear your tapdance shoes.. it starts at 8:30 pm.

as i wrote before,  the DARKSMITH show at colour out of space was great! super weird, confusing, agressive and hilarious, all in one set. people were realy confused, and were questioning if he was "serious". he is definatly as serious as his great fucking drawings! can't wait to have him over in belgium! here's a short clip of his COOS set, which was only the fourth show he ever played.



FREDERIC MAGAZINE, the collective zine/show organisation/etc from france, started by FREDERIC FLEURY published another thick nice drawing book titled FN, LES REQUINS MARTEAUX. there's some drawings of mine in there, it's been out since a little while though i only got my copies now.
some realy great stuff in there of course, by HENDRIK HEGRAY, BOMBA, ROOPE ERONEN, YU MATSUOKA, JONAS DELABORDE etc.. CHECK IT HOUTLIJM!

this year's COLOUR OUT OF SPACE festival of again a blast! DYLAN NYOUKIS and KAREN CONSTANCE know how to please the retards with eye, butt and ear candy the size of texas! i especially enjoyed the agression of DARKSMITH (aka "tim"), the slap stick of IDM THEFT ABLE & CRANK STURGEON, the surprise show of HERB DIAMANTE and of course, the always hilarious PETER FENGLER. all that in combination with a demented audience and a burned pier made this weekend another classic!

thursday night JOACHIM BADENHORST, C SPENCER YEH and myself will play as a trio at netwerk in aalst. we've never played together so i'm curious how it will go.

between friday and sunday the yearly sirup up my ears and menace to sobriety festival COLOUR OUT OF SPACE is on again, VOM GRILL will be playing on sunday! this year's line up is again great, a bunch of stuff i don't know, and some faves, like the pig that is TOM DARKSMITH, and the natural born clown PETER FENGLER, etc..

usually DE vaast colson is joining to this great festival, this year he won't as he organised a great event himself on sunday, i'm talking about the presentation of a piece he worked on for 2 years with the papients of the OPZ in geel, basicly vaast has recorded and played music with a troupe of mental patients, a 5 cd box and publication will be presented there on sunday! don't miss this if you're dressed in yellow!

since quite a while ultra eczema did not organise anything at scheldapen, mainly because we have our own small space called gunther, which served better for intimate experimental music shows and art shite, though scheldapen remains the number 1stinkhut for dancery and fumes of louder sound! i did get feta up a little before by people only showing up after the live acts, which was always the main reason to set up these nights. i got over myself and hupla, there we are again!  therefor ULTRA ECZEMA finally is organising a dance night there again on november 24th, with the great uk bear HEATSICK, and DESIGN A WAVE as the live acts and dj's RAPHAEL and DANIEL hot on the wheels of love!

yesterday frieda, the actress in these films went to see the instalation, of course a lot of travellers or daily visitors of the station recognised frieda imidiatly, a lot of people wanted to touch frieda, hug her and some more shy types just wanted to shake hands. one man told her that a bunch of people filmed this and threw it on chuchube or other websites.. the best one is this creep that has a youtube page about belgian trains (..?), he calls the instalation granny porn and seems to have a blast after about 40 seconds into the clip.

MAJA JANTAR, who i don't know will open for him, the event will start at 20h and is of course happening at GUNTHER (oudaan 15, space 33! come early and bring your whole family!!!

this weekend TUSK FESTIVAL is on in newcastle, uk! i'm playing a duo with corsano on saturday afternoon, and i'm realy siked to see ALVARIUS B play!

PETER FENGLER's performance last night at gunther was again pretty incredible. too bad not that many people saw it, though the one's that were there were rather concentrated and seated..

on friday SPEEDQUEEN played for the first time, and no one liked it. i did enjoy the evening, we ended up at a complete stranger's flat, who played gainsbourg for us and cooked an amazing meal in the middle of the night.

on saturday W RAVENVEER did a pretty great, maybe slightly too long, synth set at LEKKER VAN BIJ ONS, a radio centraal event! i always liked his work, but on saturday he cranked in some melodies that seem to come out of nowhere (uugh?), realy nice set!

tonight PREMIER SANG, the great label of the french psycho HENDRIK HEGRAY, aka POPOL GLUANT is organising a night at INSTANT CHAVIRES in paris! we will play there with SPEEDQUEEN, which is the duo of MILAN W and myself, paying our tribute to suicide.

returned from a week long trip thru euroland and a short hap of scandinavia, where the duo of chris corsano and myself played tapes, drums, mouths, and drinks!
we started in paris on friday the 9th of september at a venue a little out of the centre called KOBE, and it also seem to be called TRASH VORTEX, a small but packed place, andré agassie and the promotor opened the night with a duo of tapework and lap top cranks, a lot of knees on the carpet and smokerz that smoked bags of vegi's the size of my head! off to GRRND ZERO in lyon the day after, for what's suppose to be the last ever show on this location! a insane amount of bands played at this fest, the building is giant but still too small to cram everyone in, i think there was over a 1000 people here, the guys from that band FRANCE showed up with freshly made wine "i promise no hang over", which was a lie! our show was weird, two girls were screaming and sort of dancing, which i did not dislike! l'ecurie's sound in geneva was the best of the tour, as was the yummi food and treatment there! we had a day off the day after so all this relaxed most of our muscles for sure! berlin has such a nice and "open" energy, big buildings, lot's of parcs, and anything that feels illegal seems like it's more than tolerated over there! that in combination with all the above mentioned chaps and a serious mountain of kennissen from all over the ball was a delight! our show in berlin was happening at this place called NK, best comparable to a clean white version of the providence warehouse shows, very nice, big enough, boiling hot and a good mix of young, old, boys and girls. DRACULA LEWIS, the solo gangster that is simone trampolini pompini of hundebiss records opened the night with a blessed beat sticker and we ended our set with a trio with TAZARTEZ GHEDALIA, which was intimidating but super fun, i loved his music since a while, and it was an honour to join forces with this all around madman! to MALMO than for a inside mini golf instalation scene at a kunsthalle kind of space, definatly the most insane golf space in the world, we had to play in the middle, the owner gave me a real nice pick up microphone as a present, i guess because i have such a giant smile and not realy any lips, our show didn't take away the giant hangover everyone had to help carry around. 15 minutes later we are in copenhagen for the endless grattidtude fest, a kind of folk festival in a big hangar, nice to meet phill franklin and the other sunburned guys and see a great show by the finish lady TSEMBLA! no sleep till incubate, we had to fly real early after numbing our faces with jars full of tim & erik sirup! INCUBATE was fun after a mountain of all you can eat sushi, CORSANO was asked to play in various combinations with people he plays with, over the whole weekend you could see the last drummer on earth with matts gustavson, mick flower, and with the great french saxophoniste CHRISTINE SEHNAOUI, who we also played with as a trio. the duo of chris with christine was mind bending!

sad the tour has already ended, and definatly ready for new explotions!

on saturday A PAPER TRAIL opens, a drawing exhibtion in a village called YELLOW! this show will have works by (amongst others) FRED BERVOETS, JOSEPH BEUYS, MARCEL BROODTHAERS, MARTHA COLBURN, KIM GORDON, KATI HECK, JOHAN KLEINJAN, JONATHAN MEESE, DIETER ROTH and AMVK, there will also be a drawing of mine in it called "double pleasure". 

probably the FEVER night in oostende was the worst attended UE night so far, though that didn't destroy the nation! the die hards were there and the acts were exceptionally great!
SIMONE TRABUCCHI opened the night with a video he collaged of various embaressing moments of me and kouligas dancing and a italian weirdo in invisible underpants singing his version of the song that made this night the night that it was..,  JAN VAN DEN DOBBELSTEEN played a 17 minutes long pre recorded vocal piece repeating the words WARM and KOUD in various shapes of decomposition, W RAVENVEER struggled for over an hour with cables to blow the audience appart with a flower POWERELECTRONICS version, sweating like a porn actor and staring like a hungry dog.
FILIP VAN DINGENEN did a mini playbackshow version with his wife dancing next to him, his legs were moving completely out of balance, which confused shakers, glasses and temporary smiles! MIAUX blew a tight keyboard knaller out that made everyone at café joseph bloss like a tomato the size of a pumpkin!   RIA PACQUéE  crawled behind the stage and dug up her old eskimo punk vocal skills to scream over a grunged collage,  JOCHEM VAN DEN ECKER & MICHIEL HELBIG saw that behind the stage it was more confortable than on it, tickled a firecrackling lap top and zoomed out a VVM type of plunderphonics. DSR LINES glued beautiful synth tones straight onto the stage, REMÖRK painted the sea blue with a banjo, KIM PEERS sliced the stage into with a riot of destroy all monsters styled no wave, TIP TOE TOPIC jumped from pedal to pedal and horned their beebs, a moist projector got installed so that FLORIS VANHOOF could echo his constructivism, PETER FENGLER borrowed marc dutroux's glasses, sported a village crazed hair cut and had some ancient torture  instruments, porcelaine shoes and a self cut fever record to confuse you! by the time BAGERIA was on, brown beer replaced my brainjuice, the ideal state of mind for suicidal wave echo's like these. GERARD HERMAN was dressed in black balloons and played some sort of self build spoon instrument while destroying the balloons with a cigarette! MITTLAND OCH LEO bubbled up another knaller, EEKHOORN X  sailed over to yet another dimention, KOORTSSTROOK, aka lieven segers as a chansonier and amelie de brouwer on a long wooden violin, POSESSED FACTORY threw MAURO in the sea, SMOKERS projected a feuer and played one too! and VOM GRILL didnt't remember what the mixer was used for usually. the next night will probably be in boemerskonthem.

getting prepared for saturday's FEVER all nighter! for those who don't know yet: in yearly tradition A LOT of people will all play the same song all night long, in between twese short live shows DANIEL DE WERELDVERMAARDE BOTANICUS deejays that same song in various versions over and over again.. 2 years ago la bamba, last year POPCORN and this year FEVER is on! we published a compilation lp + 7" for it, of course filled to the brimmm with FEVER covers and tonight studio blubber's SELECT will interview me about this shortly.

this years FEVER night is a part of the groupexhibtion FREESTATE in ostends, it was normally gonne be on a boat, which was of course the whole point of doing it there, though unfortunatly the organisation only figured out last week that the boat couldnt be insured. ne'n dikke whatever. it's too late to cancel it, so it will anyway happen in one of their hangars.

sweden is a strange country, not only is it the homebase of moptaco dics' daniel fagge and enema syringe, other inhabitants of this country seem to be realy atracted to the ultra eczema logo, H&M has stole the logo for a bunch of buttons and now LISA MISKOVSKY is proudly sharing her UE sticker on some recent photo's to promote "the smile" in general. i'm extremely curious who gave her the sticker.

friday the 26th (aka tomorow) CONTOUR 2011, a biennial of moving image, currated by the canadian anthony kiendl,  opens in mechelen! for this exhibtion i've made 11 video's and a soundtrack, all together titled "gargles from ipanema", which are shown non stop for 2 months (day and night) at nekkerspoel station! big thanx to daft dsr for the video work and remörk for making the soundtrack together!

there's some realy great artists in this show, such as DAN GRAHAM, BRION GYSIN, LEE RANALDO AND LEAH SINGER, AMVK, and CORY ARCANGEL to name a few.

the opening starts at 18:30 at cultuurcentrum mechelen! i might dj somewhere late at night around there amongst other live acts and dj's.

unexpected and after a hard day of laughing/working with FRIEDA KORDA, who will star in the GARGLES FROM IPANEMA video instalation, which will be shown at CONTOUR 2011 (opening in a few weeks) in mechelen, a small kudde of antwerpians went to theater aan zee in ostends to see COOLHAVEN play, i never saw them play before and they seriously blew my mind! coolhaven is another project with PETER FENGLER in it, and i must say he never disapointed me (besides that one time he released a record of those retards of melted men, maybe the worst guests we ever had at a UE night). COOLHAVEN was a perfectly synchronised madball of performance art, carnaval, plastic punk and wave, and a giant dose of dancing. go see them if u can!!!



anotherone that keeps blowing my mind more and more with every release is BILL KOULIGAS of PAN records!! the TAZARTES GHEDALIA lp he just did is easily the best new record i've heard this year, both in sound and packaging!! bill also sent me this beautiful book of DESTROY ALL MONSTERS, a collection of all their magazines!

VOM GRILL and MITTLAND OCH LEO played at ONDERGROND 18 yesterday in a container in ghent during the boomtown fest, they sort of do a off program there. very nice people, and a nice set up, the container was sort of placed high and on top of that the graphic designers of ondergrond make beautiful giant posters for every show which are placed on top of the container.



while in extrapool/knust the other day i got some insanely amazing publications, "BEAUTIFUL MONSTERS, PAPER CUTTINGS BY JAD FAIR" clearly a beautiful collection of paper cuts by hypersane legend jad fair, and "CACTUS INSIDE FROG" by johan kauth, a A3 sized full colour stencil work by this german sheppard residing in amsterdam and playing tunes as FYOELK!

it was real nice to play in nijmegen yesterday, when we arrived we were quite weirded out as it was a full on city festival compareble with the gentse fiesten for example.. we had to play at this small stage underneath a castle wall or something.. some people seemed into it and others were scratching their heads, we both (vom grill and remörk) played seperate and then a duo in the end.
it was as usual very inspiring to see the usual die hards such as frans de waard, jada and the nice folks at knust, their record/book shop is not going so good, which means you can always find good scores there!

a rather last minute thing is that tonight VOM GRILL and REMÖRK will play at "de affaire" a city festival in nijmegen holland, extrapool invited us to play in some sort of castle.. they also emailed today to say that it's not realy intimate like extrapool, more like "a party audience", 1 + 1 = 3 in this case, holland + city festival = torture. kris and i are sharing a diper.

there's some great new tapes coming out of antwerpia these days, the enthausiast WIETOR DOCKX and MILAN W self released a confusing split tape! the a side is a live recording of WD playing a 13 m long tape loop, which is also the confusing part, at some point the audience, which you can't see as it's a cassette and not a vhs or dvd, interferes in some way.. nice! the flip is another beautiful melancholic guitar and keys sweepr from MW, at times it remind me of some of BILL NACE's work.

TAPED SOUNDS, the label of LIEVEN MARTENS also published 2 beautiful cassettes: "six études sur des objets à priori morts mais sexuellement aimables" by the brussels based french chansonier EL G is a great stoned beat blubber work that makes your head shake in various ways! and "spel" by KANDAHAR is probably a fake archival tape from 1982, very well done, sounds like the evil or bad moments in MERLINA or postbus x.

rock n roll people is a annual series of compilation lp's, which started last year, for the upcoming 50 years they will publish a record every year! the great thing is that all the sleeves for this series are already made! these sleeves will be shown tonight at GUNTHER, oudaan 15, space 33! all artwork by HANK SCHMIDT IN DER BEEK and PIKO B. it starts at 8h and you can bring your family.

vienna was amazing, absolute summer styles, i walked around in my rather wet woolen speedo's almost non stop!
and although we had only one show at the museumquartier the trip felt like a tour, we crammed every minute we had with pleasure,
meaning: a lot of beograd, heuriger wine tasting, self invented coctails at the aruba bar, a incredible late night show/jam/party at a nameless club under a bridge which was even smaller than offenbach's roxi club
and which was filled with a huge weird trumpet instalation, across from that a tiny gay bar had a digital juke box and next to that was a ranzige piza place dripping with hot beer, paradise! we also ended up in a squatted parc, a partly horrible (mainly a guy that tried to kill sound poetry) partly great (quehneberger and didi kern with 2 saxophonists) improv show at celeste, a exhibition of franz graf, visited the amazing recordstore TEUCHTLER, tested eachother's smile sytems, found out that most genres are sub genres to reggae etc

today FUR DICH VERLAG and CLEAN PRESS present a bunch of new publications at de beuckerstraat 17  in antwerp, between 2 and 6 this afternoon!



thursday's record presentations at gunther were nice, a lot of people showed up, it was realy hot and i am starting to think that all these misspressings of the mittland och leo made the 7" sell better then it ever would.., it's a great single as well though.this summer will be a little easier on the releases field. i will be ocupied with working on a ton of video's for the CONTOUR exhibtion which opens in august.

last sunday's immemorial for peter de ceulaer (or bobby colombo) was very nice! it ook place at the most beautiful garden in the centre of town, the garden of ERCOLA, a collective building since the 60's, where great artists such MARCEL DE CLEER, RUDY RENSON and GEORGE SMITS have or use to have their studio's, and where the mannekesblad SPRUIT was published! the garden was filled with all aged weirdo's from around the radio and the kat. no immemorial without an incredible mountain of pork, made in various ways, wine and beers, and the re-construction of a SPACECACTUS instalation in the basement, which was pretty simular to the first instalation. i guess immemorials are always weird, though this one felt right, an event that bobby would have loved, surounded by people he could have yelled at realy realy loud!

last week josh plotkin, a man of many different bands, but mainly the acountant behind OUTMODE, shakira, beyonce, etc... stayed here for 5 days or so, to play last minutes set and a radioshow which you can re listen to HERE!!!

played at ONDERGROND 12 yesterday, good styles there, it was a colab organisation with KRAAK, ondergrond is a organisation of some graphic design (ex) students of st lucas, one of the artschools in ghent, the space they can use of the school is actually beautiful, looks like an old monistry or something, beautiful floors and a nice natural echo. for every show they make silkscreened posters, and they also publish weird records that seem interesting!
the night started with a loud dronish duo with the guy from KOHN, a kraak classic, then VOM GRILL played some vocal bagger, for the first time mixed with a dub loop/beat, which i stole from i dont know who. then lizz allbee and christopher riggs were on with a great sparse vocal/trumpet/prepared guitar duo, and then we had to get on the train already and missed the rest.

last saturday a bunch of finns, americans, germans and aliens played at gunther, as AVARUS, JARSE and MIK QUANTIUS! another great turnhout at gunther, for some more great shows, avarus had set up in all corners of the space, for a maximum confusing suround sound, people had to walk in a circle pit to listen to the music! JARSE played a classic lightshow/ mid aged fin styles set and MIK QUANTIUS was walking on the tin ice between extreme weird childhood rock, performance art and incredible vocalism..!

since a while NARELLE DORE has been doing a blog about colour called COATED ARMS, being around narelle dore quite frequently i have to say it changed my perspective on colour, i guess i notice it more or something. tonight her and VILLA VILZEKULLA are preparing red food and drinks at RA in antwerp, it starts at 6 and will be prettig.



if i talk or write about gunther, i always have been extremely positive about him! simply put, it always have been great evenings and great shows, yesterday was partly no exception, MITTLAND OCH LEO were great!! though they could have used their 7", which was mispressed, and also i think it would knal even harder if it was late at night in a full sweatlounge.. VOM GRILL sucked big time yesterday, i could try to blame it on "playing in antwerp is realy hard", though that makes it even more lame, i guess i got too secure about it on this last italo trip, back to the basement to rehearse some more now! and no basement is deep enough in this case..

wednesday night, the weekend is already half way, or just started the night before, anyway, for gunther, it starts on wednesday! will his toilet finally close decently? will the beer be warm? and will he be cleaned? he is completely ready for a retarded first VOM GRILL show and a 7" presentation of MITTLAND OCH LEO! unfortunatly we will have to stick a giant stick in between the spaken! the pressing plant mispressed the 7" twice now, they can't seem to get these tones on a single! so, bummer, a 7" presentation without a 7", which is probably something DAVY AND MIKE will be happy for.

on arrival, terrorised by a hangover the size of texas, italy straight away tovered a smile on my flesh, simone hundebiss is from the first to the last second a incredible host!
started out with a record hunt at SOUNDOHM, located underneath and aside O space, a soundartspace, very nice + dried out the wallet straight away..
dipping ourselves in puddles of great italo food, such as these free apertizers they aparantly give out daily around 5, incredible mozarella dreams with giant salt borrels!!
no show on the first day, just numbing our faces with terminal smiles.
second day we all head to THE TOILET CLUB, since the hundebiss venue got shut down, this is the spot where they set up shows! great place, an old gay bar, that kept part of their old audience, mixed with new skool punks and trendsnobbers, very big mix of weirdo's, after the shows the club owner deejayed, which wasnt that great.

off to rome to a place called VERME, aka the worm, we get spoiled with incredible pasta and local beers and wines, nice people, a soundguy that didnt do the sound, the audience realy didnt like it and some of us had to sleep with 2 giant pitt bulls that were tickling eachothers intestinals.. more record hunting there, ended up buying a picture disc 7" of BALLY CORGAN, a guy that actually looks too much like billy corgan..

knal richting NAPOLI,  a absolutely mind blowing place with a whole different set of rules and habits.. a giant redhead man with fists as big as my neck "squatted the street", meaning we had to pay him to park our car. the people of the mamadou and the organisers are all super sweet, handing us malibu all night long and are all realy into the sets! i've been blown away daily by literly everyone's shows, a perfect bill realy, retarded voice kwakkels of mine, percise rhythmic sound art by BIRDS OF DELAY, translucent synth waves by FAMILY BATTLE SNAKE and bear casio house madness by HEATSICK! what else do u need? garbage? tin piza? more batiato record hunting? or someone random telling me in a shop that i have a very negative aura?



after mountains of incredibilty, a gasstation with a closet full of  headscratching mussolini memoribilia (such as a small pot full of fake snow that you could turn around so the snow would fall on his head..), a stay over at simone's old house filled with fresh pasta and psychedelic quiche, the last show already came in aanmerking, dikken unfortunatly, i guess i was double the size from all the insane food and good times by the time i arrived at the last and maybe best show, well at least for me, as the venue was a basement gallery called CRIPTA 747, the reason i liked it so much was that there was a beautiful natural echo in that space, which i love to "sing" to.. the whole night was anything a last night should be, nice people, power electronics, sound poverty an incredible and long HEATSICK set that the whole place went nuts for and a half an hour of sleep!

tonight the MARCEL VAN MAELE exhibtion I HATE MUSIC opens at lls 378 in antwerp. for this show, ultra eczema published a one sided archival lp of MARCEL VAN MAELE which includes private diary recordings and live recordings. the lp is limited to only 200 copies and has a silkscreen on the b side. all night long, from 6pm on, there will be a marathon reading of MvM's work. come early!





yesterday i saw an incredible show by THE BROTHERS UNCONNECTED at cinema nova! go see em somewhere and smoke 30 cigarettes afterwards.

last days of humanity. good times lately, on wednesday a crew of italian horses ran into GUNTHER and played some sparse synth tunes for us, us as in almost literly, there was unfortunatly not so many people, though still a great time!! an old friend from the grindcore days came over, a member of the amazing noisecore/grind band LD50, didnt see him in 12 years, which was fun as well!

i had such a blast last night playing in vienna, and of course mainly, seeing the other bands!! the show was organised by a young booker that originally came from the usa, called sami. sami was scared for police riots etc but everything went smooth like soft ice! the venue was a artist studio space of three lady's in a giant complex that use to be a squad but is legalised now, it was quite hidden on the first floor all the way in the back. they decorated the space very minimally, it felt like a stretched out GUNTHER, BAGERIA opened with a great simular to what they did at gunther- set, lots of loopy siked tuned synth madness played with a breeze of calm dope! then stephane kushima's CRUISE FAMILY project played some great acid dipped house music, everything went thru one bass amp which was a little disturbing at times. i drank malibu, which i got into in this country, and was pretty melted when i had to start playing, i did a little over bassed tone singing/tapes/karaoke machine piece, longer then usual, meaning longer then 5 minutes.., ending with the famous cher bullshit. last PHILLIP QEHENBERGER and DIDI KERN were on, free blasts of weird psychedelic keyboard jazz or something was the deal. i very much enjoyed hanging out with all these champions, and with the great FRANZ GRAF who burried me under his great cds, books, zines and records, if you dont know his beautiful work, find it and czech hit hout!!



in a half an hour tyfustight will be replaced with a fur dich special on radio centraal, in a half an hour is at two pm!

today is the last day STELLA LOHAUS GALLERY is open.

the great belgian slacker folk label SLOOW TAPES published a nice 120 minutes long compilation tape of only belgian weirdness titled BETER TRAAG DAN NOOIT, it's limited to 100 copies, there's a vom grill track on there.

explored some more places here in vienna last night, via MICHAEL GUMHOLD, who showed me his work and studio, which was all based around music but mostly didn't have sound. quite interesting, i especially liked his stuck on wooden collages. he took me to a great bar restaurant called the wein-something, can't remember the last part of that name.., which they seem to call a city heuringer, a wine tasting/traditional food place, kind of in a hip jacket, i make it sound bad but it was good! afterwards we were joined by other mad men and ended up at the ARUBA bar, basicly de rui but 78% smaller, looking like a whorehouse, real nice.

on friday VOM GRILL will play at a private loft party in vienna, with PHILIPP QUEHENBERGER, BAGERIA, STEPHANE KUSHIMA and DIDI KERN. find out where it is and come over!

was nice to meet martin arnold yesterday, i love his films and it's incredible dense soundtracks, they sort of remind me of early NON.

today this drawing groupshow opens at RESY MUIJSERS CONTEMPORARY ART in tilburg (between 3 and 6), although it doesn't seem to be mentioned on her website, but maybe i am blind.

this show has some of my A4 size drawings in it, and work by amongst others: KOEN DELAERE, WOLFGANG SCHMITZ, KARL HEINRICH GREUNE etc.. the show runs until june 4th.

we saw 2 great exhibitions at MUMOK today, one called DIRECT ART (on the viennese actionists) and one on AKTIONRAUM 1, a former space in munich that showed a lot of actionists and performance artists, definatly worth your time. great old limpe fuchs video, attersee butter commercial, painfull valie export films etc..

in the afternoon i played music with MAJA OSOJNIK, DIDI KERN and FREDL ENGELMAYR at a basementstudio in the 9th district of vienna, we are planning to do this more often and might do a last second show somewhere next week.

jan van den dobbelsteen suggested i should check out the artbook store SALON FUER KUNSTBUCH, an artist run space, organiser of a non isbn artbookfair etc. realy nice place, and the whole store was colour coded. while walking back up and down the hills of vienna we passed a recordstore called TOTEM, from the outside this looked like a metal/hardrock/black metal only store, when checking inside they had a whole stack of weirdo and noise lp's! some good old RRR finds! nice.

tonight BILLBOARD PROJECT 3 is on at schoenmarkt in antwerp, the street between the most retarded sloppyngstreet "de neir" and teen punk's heaven: "de groenplaats". i have one work in this show titled "model news". this project should be on non stop, with new works every month, it is seriously a refreshment.

last week's week long weekend was great! such a pleasure to have REIJO PAMI over to present his record at both GUNTHER in antwerp and KUNST IM TUNNEL in dusseldorf/germany! same goes for MIAUX, both played 3 amazing sets which should be viewable online as well soon, if lievoenk stamps finds the time to leave the taxandria museum in bois de gymnastique. MATCHBOX JEAN also spun the best out of himself, more then cheesy crust this time, and quite a pluim op zijnen hoed for playing the exact same party twice!

last saturday's event at gunther was partly incredible and partly absolute shit, both shows were good, i'de even state that THE EYE  was my favorite show of the year so far. the shit part was that, for the second time, the same police jocks came over to say we are "insane" and that the next time they "have to show up" it will be to close the space down. this is a bummer, mainly because noone called the police or complained, they seem to be bored and don't have anything better to do then to interupt a rather silent private "party".

last saturday's show at gunther was again a pleasure, it seems that so far, besides the behaviour of some mentally disabled visitors, it has been decent or good every time in the last year, we decided to rent the space for another year now, although we will have to think about how to fucking pay for it.. but that's none of your buisneus. the surprise act on saturday was sunburned with ludo mich, a surprise for me as well, and a real nice one too, sunburned like i love em em most; performative and weird, la break taking care of the effects on ludo's voice made it all sound like suicide with a punk drummer and a gg allin doll on the floor! LIZZ ALLBEE did a beautiful set that felt like a big collage of trumpet and voice madness, swung thru a ton of tiny boxes! HANS GRUSELS KRANKENKABINET  did a long carpet of synth, tap dance and broom fights ending in a motorhead cover! bobby of the grusel gang took care of the in between music too.



on saturday the next show is on at GUNTHER! as RANI BAGHERIA of bissy bunder (who lives in austia now) is here for a while she has to play with her wederhelft as THE EYE, a synth blubber duo that also played at last years popcorn event! the second half of the celebration for 14 years UE was funk as well, it was nice to see 8mm tall luca again, but that's personal, just like my "personal musical taste". after poodles of cheese, chasing a rosse kat out and having to beg the annoying twat that is (or "can be most of the time") rurik to pay the door fee (which we pay the bands with) GOLDEN CUP opened with a spicey silent set of echoed organ, a lot of bells, cymbals and troemoltjes, it reminded me a little of LAUHKEAT LAMPAAT from finland. golden cup wasn't a solo thing of luca anymore, it was a full band with mostly members from the french band FRANCE.
than KAWAGUCHI MASAMIS NEW ROCK SYNDICATE didn't blow off the roof, but played a real nice set of psyched rock, i was stoked to see 2 full bands again, it's been a while, most bands that pass by these days seem to be loner zoner solo's or peddlers!

saturday's event was surprising, TOMUTONTTU's show was the best i ever saw him, his stuff became very technical and tight like a child's anus. SUNBURNED are touring as a duo, (john moloney and paul la break), which is the smallest line up so far i think, W RAVENVEER joined them as a syntherguest. a huge psychedelic wall! i did miss snoop dog's performative side a tiny bit there.
MUSKETFLICKAN glued the boel together, and unfortunatly it only got realy crowded when DANIEL started dj'ing after the bands.

sigmarsson brought a friend called walthi, who doesn't -in his words- drink faggot beer, is into "true" norweigian black metal and co performed with him, mainly doing the soundtrack, the actual performance was sigmarsson running around, nervously shaking and screaming and stretching his fface out rather "far".. as a encore, walthi played a black metal song which was qute mind blowing.. after that, it seemed to be a part of the performance that sigmarsson forced everyone to dance to klaus nomi, georgio moroder, CRASS, la dusseldorf etc.. which everyone did.

NIEVES, independent publishing house from swiss, published a zine of mine titled "HEATWAVE CLUB CLASSICS", all drawings and collages i did while residing in perth australia, end of 2010/beginning of 2011. 20 pages, 150 copies made and photocopied in black and white. u can purchase it HERE!

i am quite mind blown by the work of KAREL SCHOETENS, who made a bunch of short docu's on belgian artists in the 80's for the BRT (belgian national television), including films about JEF GEYS, MONICA DROSTE AND GUY ROMBOUTS, WALTER SWENNEN etc, he also made a beautiful document about GEORGE SMITS, which you can see underneath in two parts!

i recently got some zines and artist books that (sometimes) excited me, most recently JUMBO REGGAE by BERT HUYGE: the general vibe is very simular to gerard herman's work, (they are very good friends might be the right excuse here), though a little more walter swennen inspired maybe, it did make me laugh at times and i quite love rasters, there's a lot of those in there.



a zine i liked a lot was CEMENT WEAPONS by ANDY BOLUS, i am always surprised to see beautifully made work by people who you only know from a loud, drunk and high nightlife, which i do rememeber this knakker from! the paintings of women with chopped off heads make me hold my neck, and that's a good thing!the thing is published by KEROZEN!

after 8 years of working together i sadly have to anounce that STELLA LOHAUS GALLERY is closing it's doors, here is the press release:

In May 2011 Stella Lohaus will terminate her gallery after 14 years of activity.

Bernd Lohaus’ death has clarified some matters and has been the driving force behind this decision.

The role of this gallery within the current artworld has been subject to considerable change. Stella Lohaus has not lost her belief in the necessity of the gallery as a place for experimentation, but has come to realise that it becomes ever more difficult to uphold that definition. In addition, communication and networking are increasingly taking over the emphasis that rightly belongs to the exhibitions and the artists’ oeuvre. This is an evolution which Stella Lohaus finds regrettable and one in which she, as a gallery owner, has no faith.

She will therefore express her artistic commitment in a different way. In a first period she will be engaged in Bernd Lohaus’ legacy, an oeuvre that is in need of the requisite care, of being inventoried and registered, if it is to remain vivacious. This alone is an intense occupation which cannot be reconciled with the manner in which Stella Lohaus carries out her gallery activity.

Stella Lohaus Gallery is present at the art fair ART ROTTERDAM from 9 to 13 February and has a solo presentation with Leon Vranken at the Armory Show in New York from 2 to 6 March.

The last project, sme.lst/svedFles von Jana Dahyn, Wolfgang Dehnbund ltd. u. Manfred Pernice will open on Thursday 17 March 2011.

the first new release on ultra eczema in 2011 will be a knaller archival one sided lp by GEORGE SMITS, which will be housed in a cover filled with photo's from the man's archive, and which will be stuffed with 3 inserts, and interview, photo's and a silkscreen (done by gerard herman) on side b!

the wire reviewed the 25 JAAR DE GEBRADEN ZWAAN ZINGT lp by CASSIS CORNUTA. unfortunatly the review is not entirely positive.. and it refers to the other cassis lp (mag ik eens even in uw broek pissen?) we released as "recordings from 74", which is un-true, these recordings were all new. anyway, good it's out there i guess.

tomorow radio centraal takes part in the yearly 1812 event, an international radio happening about migration, this means, no tyfustijd tomorow, and all day redactietijd, broadcast live from bar nadar, the bar next to radio centraal (ernest vandijckaai 19), there will be some decent food there, partly cooked by vincent snoop, a new board member of radio centraal and a great cock. and in the evening MAURO and MIGUEL ANGEL will play there.
a new board got elected this week for the radio, it feels rather strange without peter de ceulaer, a huge gap is left behind, but it is inportant to keep the radio alive, it's great that some new young people joined the board, such as snoop, gerard herman, luis/louis and margot degroup.

let's call it a report: last saturday's retarded clay action was funk, the 4 of us couldnt remember ever using clay in our young lives before, that is sort of the way it looked too.. in the evening a bunch of people showed up, new faces too, WIETER DOCKX (who will be replacing my radioshow in the upcoming 3 weeks) build a long tapeloop and played it, it was good, but a little silent, than W RAVENVEER played a ping ponged synth set, beautiful, the man seems to get better with every note he plays. although gunther is against dj's, gunther is a contradiction in every possible way, so a spontanious dj set happened thanx to the matchbox youth crew. mostly lady's filled the floor, and we also got our first ever police visit, they weren't called by anyone, they were just curious why a bunch of people were throwing clay at eachother in the middle of the night.

last night at gunther was perfect: ice cold, snowing outside, true believers and some new faces, a great creeping self built synth set by REMORK, a redefinition of the gunther space by GUY ROMBOUTS, an of course the amazing story's and playing of mr DANIEL HIGGS, i could hear this man talk all day and offered him our apartment, i guess something is in the water, or in the tone of his voice, a drone, or something, hearing the man's story's means instant smiles, much like the voice overs of WERNER HERZOG. the night ended with a live theatre piece i did with a  dutch actor at bato batu, the owner of the bar tried to stop the play, and the little audience that was present left the bar almost imidiatly.

on saturday the RELAX MOST OF YOUR MUSCLES exhibtion opens at be part in waregem. i've been working on this show for the past 4 months, it includes the release of a book and a 7" of vocal loops, and a lot of new work.

the last person that would accept smoke up his ass after he died would be peter, though fucking hell, i miss the guy! peter spent a lot of his precious time on the radio, a social/artistic project broadcasting anything that isn't aloud anywhere else! for the last 20 years he was the chairman.

a lot of artists are dis-honest twats, making work that tries hard to fit in, peter was an honest artist when he locked a bunch of friends up for 24 hours in the toilet of radio centraal, while this was all broadcasted, peter was enjoying a good glass of wine in a confortable situation far away from that horribly small toilet. i use to stay home for the COLUNST radioplays he would make with his brother john burner de kunst, and his ladyfriend silver sindy, these radioplays introduced me to a extreme form of satire that made you wonder if what you were hearing was actually legal. same goes for the liquid air papers he made with a bunch of other agitators. pure waanzin die iedereen in zijn boekenkast moet hebben zitten.

the goed turnhout was back last night for a mouth to mouth duo of greek windzeiler BILL KOULIGAS and lafms zoner JOSEPH HAMMER. a bunch of people showed up, still it remains funny to see how some people do not understand that gunther is not a money maker, he is an investor, investing in your future! yesterday's pre show LAFMS story's where great to hear, especially about how the japanese connections was made in the 70's when the HIJOKAIDAN guy found a lafms record somewhere on a holiday, straight away flew over to LA and tracked down the adress on the lp and rang the doorbell of the potts' family. everyone knows what came after that:



also, joseph's hilarious story's about michael jackson being a frequent costumer at the bookstore he worked at, oozing for children's books were a good forplay for the duo set, spiced with rotting jackson voicecracks. all in a beautiful night, nice to see some academy students and new faces around. confused faces let's say..

also very excited about the new pile of publications DYNASTY ZINE from greece are putting out, they just published a stencil printed zine by BILL KOULIGAS and KATHRYN POLITIS, a alien extension to their beautiful panned lay outs! dynasty also published a TOMOO GOKITA zine simultaniously and they're opening a shop.

quality time, VINCENT SNOEP aka "het kleine boze clowntje" cooked another amazing meal before yesterday's show, he turned vegetarians into carnivores and changed grim battlefields into smileys! a good start of nice eve, no giant crowth again, maybe people are getting sick of great shows, or maybe the free paper doesn't quite replace a big poster that well. anyway, still a decent amount of people, more male than female unfortunatly.
a new trend seems to be bringing warm ice cream, like cornetto's for example, it's hip now to drink the warm icecream ad fundum.
LUDO MICH opened last night (acompanied by some backing sounds by steve kenney) with a contact mic'de table and voice, a lot of vague priest/ocult references and the usual almost snapping madness! than SICK LLAMA absolutely blew me away, playing a bunch of tapes mixed in a cardboard box with a beautiful drawing on it of a castle that could also be a "dude", when he kranked out the clarinet it became realy windy and dark! a perfect saturday night storm in a glass of water. DEMONS slowed all our brains down to a point where you're doubting if the fish on screen are realy swinging backwards or you're making it up during your weekly braingame action. hank and daniel dj'de a lot of popcorn this time, the music genre, not the song. maybe the second time in years that the actal song wasnt played at a UE night. people are over poopcorn.

while digging into my "archive", in america they call it "dumpster diving" i believe, i fount back the first ever scheldapen flyer, i think scheldapen was squatted on june 28 or 29th of 1998, or was it 1997? anyway, the flyer was never photocopied, all the ones i handed out were all original one's, of the suske and wiske caraters i painted on the wall of scheldapen before the opening. this original one was glued to the ceiling of the hallway by bartender gilles. i peeled it off "the best i could" and fount it back now.
i think the names you can't read anymore should be CON & ROT, which was a insane "goa crust band", MUGGLES and INTESTINAL DISEASE.

a bit bummed not to be at the LAFMS festival in london, an aweful lot of maniacs are gathering there this weekend to fiddle on their self build instruments or their pals, nevertheles tomorow night it is that time of the month again, another UE event is on at scheldapen, this time the blurred synth / video troupe of DEMONS is coming to town to team up with LUDO MICH, and they brought SICK LLAMA over who'll play his first ever belgian set of fag tapes hiss bagger! dj sets afterwards, in between en overal waar de zon niet schijnt by hank the diskjokkie and marieke popcorn! it starts at 9!

last night's show was funny, people were exceptionally early, at 21.15 the place was packed, and it took until 22.30 for the openingsact to arrive, which dj daniel shaved with excellence as usual. mauro and jef cuypers' duo reminded me of TG at times, and some of nate youngs' synth work, mixed with exotic vocals or something. QUINTRON AND MISS PUSSYCAT made the crowth go nuts, the show started as a puppetshows, where the police were the bad guys and "special piza" was the thing you needed.., it ended in a nervous breakdown syndrome tease! great show, for some strange reason they reminded me of felix kubin, on the verge of music that could be mainstream but it isn't. also, it sort of gave me the feeling i am a booker, which i'm not.

on saturday the next UE NIGHT is on! DEMONS, SICK LLAMA AND LUDO MICH play in the sauce at scheldapen!

wednesday night is ULTRAECZEMA'S PRETMOERAS time! since years it is rather remarkeble that the dj's at UE nights usually play old records, a lot of 60's, 70's and 80's i guess, an exception is that they usually also play QUINTRON AND MISS PUSSYCAT! tomorow that is less nescesary, as QUINTRON AND MISS PUSSYCAT will play their self build poppenkast, drum buddy's and weird organs LIVE at scheldapen!! the doors open at nine, and POSSESSED FACTORY, a brand new boys band of MAURO PAWLOWSKI and JEF CUYPERS are opening! and DJ DANIEL, who dreamed last night that he was playing the eurovision songfestival as cassis cornuta, will dj!

i realy try to be honest on this news section thing, i mean, it might sound ridiculous to always say "yesterday's show was great", especially as it is mostly about the shows i've set up.., yesterday was no exception though,  there was a mountain of nudity going on in a fashion store while oneotrix point never and emeralds played in zaal belgië, mats gustavson played at de singel, and a exhibtion opened at studio herman teelbal, but C SPENCER YEH and OKKYUNG LEE were in absolute delirious madness modus when playing at scheldapen last night, okkyung lee drank whiskey out of her cello while spencer yeh screamed self writen jokes in his own special sound poetry microphone. mind benders! string work that covered the space in itchy waves of spit and forced itself into peoples flappers.

last night was funk! maybe the smallest amount of people so far at GUNTHER, but that didnt temper the pret! SPENCER YEH opened with a horribly romantic dj set, the lady's present gave him the rather new "gunther's house dj" name, and presented his video's, partly vocal based, some animations, and a hilarious mash up video!

OKKYUNG LEE knows how to make everyone shut up, extremely fast fragile and silent cello madness, repetitive at times, unsettling and strange! absolutely great set, i think most people there were mind bend after this. before starting she waited until there was absolutely no other sound besides the outside rain and her cello.

can't wait for tonight's duo set of these 2 knakkers!

yesterday's chris corsano show was again great! he never disapointed me, well maybe once, when sandy, his personal assistent started answerring corsano's interviews, but whatever, in general the man keeps blowing minds. i was happy so many people came down, maybe the biggest crowd so far, also a lot of people that didnt visit gunther before. although some audience members expected a major electronic drum instalation, i thought the stage that vaast colson build for this ocasion was sweet enough as a multi functional jazz matras, or prof barabas' teletijdsmachine! aparantly people were anoyed by the amounts of cameras there, i didnt pay attention to that so much, more to the fresh style of circular melodica bassnoise! and maybe a little bit to carlo audiobot's home grown bast tattoo saying "panini".

last week the MULTIPLE VISIONS groupshow opened at nicc in antwerp! it has a few ultra eczema editions in it alongside an intimidating amount of great artists.

on friday the last drummer on earth CHRIS CORSANO is playing a solo set at GUNTHER! the nonhorse show on saturday is cancelled.

so, colomiers was not a venue in toulouse, but a rather ugly suburb of toulouse, it would sort of be like doing a residency in zandvliet for a week, thinking you're gonne be in antwerp. no wormies though, i had a lot of fun contributing to the collage zine, we had our own private colour copy machine, and i of course enjoyed the company of my intense friend babar hegray, the sweet drawing storm shobo shobo, the maniac detail freak and the hardest working man in showbizz tetsunori, and the floating duo of sumi ink club.

i also enjoyed charlemagne palestine's performance/film, he made a film in toulouse based on the mythology of "the street of the bull", he followed the path of the bull with 2 camera's, the film was shown in 2 almost indentical parts underneath eachother, there was a slight difference in timing, which gave it a delay sound! i must say it quite blew my mind, in the beginning the soundtrack is mainly the sound of the area, but when his voice overtakes the mind bends absolutely! after a while he sung along with the film on his knees, which was great too!
afterwards i enjoyed seeing the area where babar hegray grew up in combination with a vast amount of red chimay, and after that i didn't enjoy the pepperspray that the taxidriver sprayed in my eyes after a discussion about the different than usual price. good to know though how this feels, basicly like they are burning your whole face and neck, i guess the whole village of colomiers also knows how i experienced it.. what did pompadoer learn from all of this?

finland was truely inspiring, different than i expected, most probably because we were only in cities, and besides a afternoon trip to a weird army base island, we didn't spend time in a cruel nature area. basicly i did and saw everything i wanted to do and see: i spent some quality record listening time with erkki pami who became a dad for the third time, and as you know dads don't take no for an answerr, hunted the DIMI SYNTH 7" down the day after, tried hille and kevin's blueberry soup and smulled rudolf het rendier, traded one liners with arttu, who is a people's person nowadays, had a loud fight with a giant dog standing in the middle of the room with a big blanket in my hands i found out it was only a dream, enjoyed live sets by nuslux, w ravenveer, dolfijn in de toekomst, arttu and a noiseguy, etc, met up with mika taanila, and i played a shitty set in turkku and a better one in helsinki as VOM GRILL, both as a part of the greatLAL LAL LAL festival, which was the reason i was flewn over.

i am in colomiers now drawing, making zines, etc with babar hegray, shoboshobo, sumi ink club and tetsunori tawaraya. i thought colomiers was a venue in toulouse, it turns out to be a la vie de jesus styled suburb of toulouse where they still have to discover the word freedom. i am quite blown away by the focus and fastness of tetsunori's drawing work and enjoyed liters of red wine and canard, aparantly a specialty around here. tomorow CHARLEMAGNE PALESTINE is doing something in toulouse!

W RAVENVEER and myself are leaving to helsinki today, both him, and VOM GRILL are playing in turkku on friday, and on sunday in helsinki. i have never been there and can't wait!



in a week or so more pret-candy is on the menu, with shobo shobo, hendrik hegray, sumi ink club, tetsunori and i will have to create something in 10 days at colomier in toulouse.

a incredible few days it has been! on sunday RALPH WHITE and JOSHUA BURKETT both played great sets at gunther, in the beginning (around 8) it seemed there was not gonne be many people, this changed rapidly, a crowded house and a lot of silence and respect for the playing acts! we've put the fridge off as it distrurbed the sound last friday during bjarne's night, also it was the first time we asked for a donation, all money went to the solo acts of course, it was kind of strange to see how people reacted to that, and also to see how much live music is worth for some people. most people gave about 5 euro's which was great!  this system will be happening more (for most of the october shows at gunther).



yesterday morning we went to OPZ (psychiatric hospital) in geel (this village name translates to YELLOW, hometown of the great guy rombouts), vaast colom is doing a project there with the patients, he plays music with them and is recording it all to create an edition in the end. RALPH WHITE and JOSHUA BURKETT both played for them live and also played with them during the whole day.
it sounded like a sunburned jam at times!
one of the guys was a great musician, and makes his own instruments, a bit like olsons but without spraypaint!
one of the people that is part of the art-workshop of the institute that specifically blew my mind is KAREL LAENEN, karel is making drawings since over 25 years or longer, the result is a beautiful psychedelic colour pencil field of made up fruits, planets, caracters etc. i liked it that much that i bought a piece, a drawing of a wing of the psychiatric institute. for some reason his drawings remind me a lot of the finnish drawing kings i know, such as jan anderzen, roope eronen, arttu and kevin etc..



to anounce a bunch of shows, to slap some dogs when they do something they shouldnt do, and to spread some work we find good enough to spread ultra eczema made a free newspaper, the bummer was that there was a giant mistake in it and we had to re-print it, i looked over it when checking the last update of the lay outer and all names were in the wrong position, that problem is solved, so they're available for free all over antwerp so far, when i return from a two weeks long trip they will be available elsewhere as well!

on friday the BJARNE MELGAARD & ULRIKE LINDMAYR conversation was on at gunther! quite funny i must say, as it felt more extreme than the 25 hours long gig of cassis cornuta! it started around 8, about 40 people were there, we borrowed chairs, so everyone was seated. ulrike and bjarne were both sitting behind a table, in front of the audience, first a brief conversation took place about bjarne's work, which was quite good, aparantly bjarne never realy lectured before, ulrike stated that noone ever dared to ask him. strange, the man might come off as a brutal animal, but i found him rather funny after talking to him, and very well informed about all kind of music and art.
then ulrike started reading from bjarne's yet to be published novell "bother of sam, son of job", she warned everyone that she'de be reading until she couldnt anymore, or until there was noone in the audience anymore.
in the beginning GUNTHER looked quite filled, but after an hour people started disapearing, there was a quite heavy atmosphere, hardly any light, the anoying sound of gunther's fridge and the brutal sexual story read by a female austrian spiced english voice. after a while the anoying twat rurik, started snoring  as well, and about 4 people stayed till the end.



tonight RALPH WHITE, banjo and trekzak (pullbag..) player  and shy acoustics master JOSHUA BURKETT will play both solo at 8h at TOP GUNTHER (oudaan 15, space 30), erguntop wordt dat. tomorow both will play at the opz in the afternoon, where vaast colson is doing an art/music project with the patients since a while.

saturday's voorlopige beëindiging van de zomer was fun! herb diamante did not show up because he couldnt find a ticket or something, and he told us the day before, luckily the multi talented ORPHAN FAIRYTALE replaced him! MIAUX opened the night with a surprisingly pregnant set, a little button of a bird was attached to her pregnant belly joining forces with the mothercookie thru keyboard sadness and some exotic tunes! a good start of a long night! MUSKETFLICKAN spun some great inkomer knallertjes to prepare your wet feet! ORPHAN FAIRYTALE started with some technical difficulties but hit the bell with some lurid dancey tunes! rain dragged everyone to the garden for a sweaty dance performance by GEORGE MULFORD, a pseudonim for spaghetti gangbang! aka the lady's that got naked at the last hair police show! they filled a instalation with a 1000 liters of foamy soap! people danced in it and filled the whole venue with dirt, which was beautiful! dj daniel and le grand christian met for the first time, a magical dj duo for sure, a lot of 60's weirdness and all the hits that make body's move the way they should move all day.

WHAT THE..? records is living the name!! the new stack of releases are seriously outer limit weirdness, especially the CALIGULA maxi, a ace of base type of thing ran over by dutch electro clowns! beautiful record! the brent lewis ensemble is a dada screamer from the BUFMS boerderij, and the cordy lp is a instant jazz classic!

be prepared for saturday's insanity at scheldapen! and yes, it is at SCHELDAPEN in ANTWERP, not in a fort in hoboken, the thing they did there was only temporary, it seems like a lot of people are confused about this.

just received the first issue of BIRCH FEVER, a zine of old skool erotic photo's, mainly focusing on the butt of some lady's. the zine is limited to 50 copies and made by HIVE MIND's greh holger, the cover is screened and the inside is cruedely photocopied.



also got the second issue of NETWORK, a great rather new zine made by aaron dilloway, filled with 80's and 90's adds taken from bananafish, forced exposure, etc



narelle dore is did a window for RA, her last collection is also still on view in the same store.

i can't hold back this information: michel goessens is selling fresh bio meat every sunday at the bio market (falconplein in antwerp), it is not compareble to the shit you've been eating lately. in a way one could state that the delicious delicacies of michel are the motor of ultra eczema.

this week's short visit to damian stoked me, as i fount a beautiful small HENRI CHOPIN book there from 1990 and the catalog of PAUL DE VREE's exhibtion in hasselt from 1981. it was a joy reading wim van mulders' text in de vree's book, he uses words i forgot the existence of.

cassis cornuta sent me an email with the word "inspiration" writen in the subject line, attached was the video underneath.. i'm wondering if he is giving me inspiration or if he means that boomer the dog is his main source of inspiration these days:

yesterday caroline dumalin, a aanstormende art-historian/critic etc, took me to maastricht to show me a church that is dipped in period blood, well, maybe the other way around, a giant pleasurecave got shoved over the church and did'nt fit entirely. we also went to visit GER VAN DIJCK and THEO VAN DER AA of AGORA and FANDANGOS, agora was a artist space/"gallery" in the 70's and fandangos was their amazing artist publication series. this all happened thru a series of coincidences: a while ago caroline, who i didn't know (and who is the first lady in the proximus commercial above..) contacted me to ask for wout vercammen's contact as she was working on a lecture about agora and aparently wout was involved with them and her focus was the belgian connections with this space, months later i got a book about fandangos made by marc goethals, which very much blew my mind, it is a great collection of small press, mail art, pseudo dada, homebrewery etc, around the same time i read the script of caroline's lecture and fount out it was about the same thing. we looked at old copies of anna banana's VILE magazine, some fluxus related publications and of course their own fandangos zines. funny thing was that if you walk in their house there's not a trace of this weirdo past, there's catholic imagery all over the house, and self painted flowers, not a trace of dada, fluxus or mail art, this is all stuffed in boxes in a front room.. they were rather surprised that after over 30 years 2 people that could have been their grand children were interested in this, in their words, "dated stuff". they also didnt seem to remember many of the people they were in touch with, such as coum transmissions, guy schraenen, etc..

an overwhelming feeling of luck and short euphoria came over me on friday during the 25 hour long concert CASSIS CORNUTA did for the 25th birthday of his noise radioshow called DE GEBRADEN ZWAAN ZINGT (i think this translates to; the boiled swan sings). some tones: on arrival on friday morning at 7.30, bert lezy is still awake and a little hammered, he joins in straight away for what was gonne be a dense 25 hours! daniel kicked it of with old and new tape loops while setting up acoustics in a instalation vaast colson and myself build on demand of daniel. the first crew also included the young god GERRY HERMAN, who stayed till the very last minute. later on, die hards such as NEL ARTS, and the marquee brothers joined in too! i am not an extreme focussed organiser, and didnt realy think about food, one of the marquees brewed a great onion soup that everyone smulled from around 12! than the other marquee went home to boil a great vegi meal that bummed out BOBBY COLOMBO around dinner time! people popped in and out all day! some unexpected faces, and the usuals! very helpful was that two lady's went to get extra beers etc. the non stop music was mostly loop based though went in very various waves of extreme electronics, beautiful acoustics, bells, synths etc, there was not a second that i was annoyed by the sound! when time flew by of course some primates that thought "everyone can play along" dropped in. i had to be slidely rude to stop them from doing what they were doing, which was probably the only negative note of the day. regional television station ATV came by to film daniel and interview him. what i think is amazing about that is that people that would never get confronted with genuine weirdness like this got to see it, 2 elder people came by gunther straight after seeing it on tv. ALEX DE WINTER, LUTHER VANHOOF and BOBBY COLOMBO played along with their SPACECACTUS, guy schulpen joined in, miss dore made a cake with a swan on it, and at the very last hours it got extremely heavy, just 2 loops were played, everyone was hungry, some die hards left an hour before the end, some whisperpants were thirsty for milk, people drew on the walls out of boredom etc.. thanks to everyone who visited, and helped out!!! more photo's soon (when they're developed!)

it seems like the 25 hour long celebration of 25 years de gebraden zwaan zingt at GUNTHER is coming together fine.. we're following daniel's instructions, spacecactus is resurrecting from the bar to the hexagon, my fingers smell weird, bottles are being delivered, coffee is being made, so it will be more than definatly cold on friday morning at 8, which is the time it will actually start. chance is very small that this event will be fully broadcasted by radio centraal, aangezien the policetower is blocking any antenna possibilities. so i guess you'll just have to come by to experience this night and day-mare.



 
gunther doesn't take summer breaks, he even thinks it is complete flauwe zeik to take summer breaks. we're probably not around long, like every interesting organisation. yes, we are possesed by a giant amount of pretention. and we will hardly warn you before anything REALY happens. gunther does not care much about spelling mistakes, not because he is dumb, just to make sure you understand him.
at least one part of  gunther misses the soup of café de kat,  someone else is taking care of that problem!

absolute killer weekend this was! on wednesday the great ENTRACTE crew came over! they did a presentation yesterday nigth at GUNTHER, which was so far definatly the most confusing one! they made a beautiful cd edition, limited to 16 copies. the 16 cd's together formed a silkscreened hexagon, gunther was very dark for this ocasion as the silscreen was made in fosfor and the only thing that lighted up from time to time, besides a video of a rather atractive young lady staring into the lens. people did a lot of sssssssssssstt, followed by confusing silence, as most people expetec a live show by jacques beloeil.

other great news is that allon kaye, head of entracte, tattood ULTRA ECZEMA 50 on his arm! in trade i got E103 tattood on my fingers..



tomorow afternoon NARELLE DORE is showing her new collection at RA between 3 and 6. for this ocasion OTARK is making special thea's and treats. come early and hang loose in the garden!

i saw a funny performance yesterday by BISSY BUNDER, a international all lady group from kalmthout, poland, germany, india etc.. for yesterday's performance they replaced JOHANNA TRUDZINSKI with LIEVEN SEGERS, another cuty with long brown hair.., lieven played guitar and sung, the performance was called "commandor of the picknick clan" and was a BROOD WATER STENIGING, BREAD WATER STONING, BROT WASSER STEINIGUNG. a bunch of em were on top of a high wall in the fort in hoboken smeared with black paint and bread and sandwishes that looked like big wards, at some point two of the lady's climbed of the high wall with ropes, which looked quite impressive! they were throwing rotten eggs onto kati heck's head who was smeared with fake blood or some red emulsion anyway. it felt a little like a fresher or less agressive aktionist performance. the music was a fastened klaus nomi song which sounded amazing! i think this was my favorite BISSY BUNDER performance so far.



yesterday i broadcasted a discussion with myself about the idea of starting TV CENTRAAL. it was of course a very interesting conversation, as i was the only one talking. discussions like that are my favorite way of communicating, you can also call it a monologue. this show will be re-listenable soon i think.

 

there's some things coming up that i am very happy about. first of all next week, on friday august 6th, fine tuner JACQUES BELOEIL and graphic and/or shoe designer ALLON KAYE of the entracte label from london are coming over for a presentation at GUNTHER (oudaan 15, space 33). entracte made a limited to 12 copies edition of jacques beloeils last lp for the 12 years bday party of ultra eczeam a few months back! a simular special limited edition might happen for next friday!



another thing i am extremely excited about is 25 jaar de gebraden zWAAN ZINgt!!!!! since 25 years cassis cornuta aka daniel de wereld vermaarde botanicus is broadcasting a rather extreme noise radioshow on a  weekly base! in this show he mixes his own recordings, field recordings, recycled music, and noise or experimental records by other people. this bday will be celebrated at GUNTHER as well with a 25 hour long concert/happening on friday the 13th (from 8 in the morning until 9 in the morning the next day). for this ocasion ultra eczema is releasing a limited to 250 copies lp of recordings by cassis cornuta from exactly 25 years ago! here's the front cover of this intense document:

above, you can see a part of the dog that was my "puppet" for the poopart show at nicc. at the point this photo was taken, the dog was still a pet, hanging out at our new mansion. one of the guys that installed the electricity in this mansion didn't like this nameless pet and kicked a hole in his face with his feet. as the hollydays started we didnt know what to do with this ugly pet, we tried to sell it on ebay, that didnt work, than i stuffed a empty package of tigra cigarettes in it's mouth, which changed it into a statue at the the nicc show. after the show the dog fell and lost an eye. right now it's waiting for me in kati hecks garage. when i'm back from hollydays i might pick it up. an animal is for life they told me.

today a groupshow of new belgian art opened at the antwerp wing of christian nagel gallery, it's located at a mini brussels north area without the male prostitutes, in the centre of antwerp called KIEVITPLEIN. i made two new works for it: a video called CAN'T which is a take out of a roadmovie that lieven segers made a few years ago about the tour jessica rylan and the duo of myself and vaast colson did across euroland and
another work is a 3 by  4 prox big drawing made with saliva and ink (mainly) and a bit of realy ugly crayon.., the drawing is hanging, well "was" hanging too high, higher powers felt the same way, the door located next to the piece blew open and a rukwind blew and partly ripped the drawing of the wall.
i left the opening as jacobus en corneel weren't there to help me re hang it, and if they were there it would have been a ridiculous sight, even more ridiculous than a cross eyed hamza licking your tortured eyes.

on sunday a groupshow will open at the antwerp wing of CHRISTIAN NAGEL gallery (kivitplein)! showing works by young belgian artists such as VAAST CALSON, DENNIS TYFUS, DANIEL SANTOS, CARLA AROCHA AND STEPHANE SCHRAENEN, etc..the opening starts at 12h, with a bbq and a live concert by the great wallonish weirdo ACID KIRK!
i made two new works for this show, a big drawing made with spit, ink and some other materials i don't even know the name off, and a video.

tomorow night HUNDEBISS STRAFSTUDIE is on at GUNTHER! it will most probably start around 10 and we absolutely don't know whats happening!

just returned from RAVELLO in italy! summer offically starts on june 21st, though i must say they're gonne have to change that into 1st of july, it makes much more sense. great start of the summer, good to hang out with fluxus connaisseur, gallerist and currator GIANLUCA RANZI, his dog orlando and a gang of street dogs from the cemetary.. i went to ravello for the ravello festival which had an exhibtion chapter, some great works in there by john bock, beuys and nam june paik and a audio piece by the uk soundartist andrew leslie hooker, who was also there and who've i met in less sober conditions in december..



at this show i re-showed DOUBLE PLEASURE, a bigger work made with ink and saliva. besides that i also had a soundpiece in the lounge area which i made with kris delacourt and which you might have heard in our radioshow yesterday!
it was good to have a swim and draw all day on a terras with a great view, i made a zine there that will be ready soon!

GUNTHER sets up a show tonight at sunset, it will be a short happening by FLORIS VANHOOF, it's also his record release rally for the time slime lp on ue! dont come late and leave those ugly dance shoes home, no dj's will be present, only extremely hot drinks.

i saw a nice small show yesterday by LA artist JIM SKULDT, who has been residing in antwerp since a while. nice weird potato stamps that looked like tiny pumpkins. also a super 8 film projection of psychedelic schilfering and potato madness with acoustics thrown over, had a sort of sunburned feel to me!

in november a new store opened in antwerp, it took me until last week to get there, it's called WALHALLA and is specialised in minimal synth, wave and old house (lots of r&s etc). they are also releasing records, the first one they've put out is a great comp called UNDERGROUND BELGIAN WAVE VOLUME 1, it's all early 80's wave taken from obscure cassettes! check it out!!

last night's shows at nicc were realy sweet!! i must say i was looking forward to the end of the pop art exhibtion, i was not a giant fan of the exhibtion, although i liked a few of the works in it, and also found out that putting on shows during the course of an exhibtion in a bunker that noone knows the way to, was not working that great, that in combination with the sun and everyone's boiled brains + a show of pol mathe on the same night made me think there wasnt gonne be anyone, and that it would not be fun, the oposite was true though.

AF URSIN opened around 9.30, it was absolutely amazing, super silent electro acoustics made with a instalation of glass, a sewing machine, a mechanic of a discoball, a mandolin, circular breathing and a tape delay! the whole audience was dead silent and blown away by this wtf soundtrack of outerspace from the 30's! i never saw timo play bad, and i never heard a bad record by the man, which is very very very exceptional.

a little later the dancing modest queens of shy casio tunery MITT LAND OCH LEO played a nice first short set of tripped kubinesque suicidal casio psych! great stuff. i can not wait to hear their tapes or other future sound carriers, adn especially: i cna not wait to see them play live in a small, packed and super warm place at 3 in the morning!!

rudy caeyers, of the 80's industrial outfit LAKOSTE is back in antwerp for a month and brought salmon from his home base TROMSO!

and it was ages ago that i went out with cora valesco, which was super fun!

a lot has been happening, vaast colson and myself are opening a space next sunday, july 4th called GUNTHER, it is located next to the biggest police tower in western europe, in a old shopping centre in the heart of antwerp. we will use this space as a studio, but also as a presentation space for projects or things either one of us is involved with. next sunday we will bijt de kop er af with a presentation of FLORIS VANHOOF's lp. if you are accidently reading this, and you can find it, please feel invited.



it has been 5 years since TIMO VAN LUIJK played live under his solo moniker AF URSIN, well described by a australian queen as "music that sounds like a very old clock". i am very much looking forward to his show tonight at NICC (tulpstraat in antwerp), i know he worked on a new instalation to use as an instrument for this show, and i also remember that the few shows i saw of his in the past ten years have all been beautiful!
after this, MITT LAND OCH LEO will play their first ever full live set!!!!!!!!! some ringelings afterwards as well probably!



it is a rather bizzy evening unfortunatly! POL MATHEE is showing at second room for one night as well! i realy hope i can see that too!

some creatures have too much energy, too much energy even to be caught on a picture, by the time the machine sez click floris vanhoof already ran off, cutting and glueing 56 meters of lurid 8 and 16 mm film together to create a cluster of filmloops all playing at the same time and interacting with a slimeball of thick synth/tape madness!
a full time member of stoner ensemble R.O.T., though solo-soundwise very different, a full time visual artist and a full time body and synth builder/connaisseur! a lot to be full time, though stronger than the tape holding his filmloops or the elastic holding my stockings.
this records is a collage of home brew synth madness, fieldrecordings, detailed registrations of floris throwing a full drum kit 20 times of a staircase in a church, coincidences and liters of delicious tape delay spun together by a man who only eats fast food, as eating the real thing would take too much time, time that could be spent on more important things, like digging dick raaijmakers, art history, synths and long forgotten sound carriers!
finally, the first lp by one of my favorite belgians! after a bunch of self published tapes, cdr's and films it was about time!
limited to 300 copies, comes in a  bright purple/black sleeve design by dennis tyfus and with 2 inserts, including the scores for these 2 side long pieces!

the book is titled one's onions 1, and i think you can see it as the start of a label of some kind. there is a compilation cdr attached to the front cover, which includes tracks related to the contributors of this book. some of my faves in there such as WEIRDO RECORDS QUEEN ANGELA SAWYER, who wrote a top ten of hypnotic records, SCOTT FOUST, the commander, who wrote a guide to "how to make your life an art object", GERARD HERMAN did some great guest drawings and one of the best tracks on the comp as kian sandalen! NEL AERTS made another beautiful fold out! there's a photo report of our popcorn nightmare etc.

tonight AIR, the antwerp artist in residency program show what they got, JIM SKULLDT, an american replica of VINCENT SNOEP, antwerp's most famous unemployed hobby-cook, is doing a lecture on his work.

i was pleasantly surprised with the invitation to propose an invitation design for DRIES VAN NOTEN's next show. it all had to go realy fast and it was definatly a totally different way of working than the way i usually work. though i enjoyed it. here is the front side of it (it will be stencil printed by afreux):

lately i very very very much enjoyed hearing LE GRAND CHRISTIAN deejay again, he played at a party at barabas, on a secret location in antwerp. i didnt see him play for over 8 years, and it was probably this long ago he even played. still the same exotic madness, 80 percent music i never heard before, though all insane, 60's french beat, yeye, etc.. amazing!

in the mean time the popart show opened at nicc, the luc tuymans and aiaiai www curated show in china opened and i finally moved to van leriusstraat in antwerp, this is the reason all orders are late and will be even later. i wont be online much until next thursday as we are eating a giant amount of cakes that our sparkling new und rather old orthodox neighbours brought us this afternoon.

i arrived in london on thursday afternoon and straight cabbed to jacques beloeil, who is still responsible for one of the better lp's of last year (bedulles on entr'acte records!), though maybe i should stop saying that every time i hear the name jacques beloeil, as besides a musician, he also is also a perfect host, a true analyst and a devoted cook! on arrival we combined listening to COIL and eating fresh slices of pork, which was delicious. we never played music together before so decided it was maybe a good idea to "practice" a tiny bit before playing live the same day. he played a stripped version of the panned casio psych he is notorious for, and i added some typhoid death karaoke sauce, i do mean that the sauce comes out of a machine made by REMORK called "typhoid death karaoke", i dont mean anything else.. we both felt that this was enough, although i brought a marantz mono tape machine, various loops and a horn, it felt unnecesary to use these.





we headed down to THE ALIBI to meet up with our host ALLON, head of ENTRACTE, the venue is this great looking nightclub in the basement of a restaurant in the smelly armpit of london. it sort of reminded me of a bigger version of the 90's spaghetti world basement in antwerp, hardly any light, lots of small rooms and mirrors etc..

was great to see allon as usual.

there's of course a lot of difference between nights here and in london, one thing being that this was called a "late night" thing, meaning it has to close at 2. so basicly everything happening in a night should be happening before 2, everyone sort of shows up around 8/9 and fries him/herself sooner than later.
the night kicked of with some great heavy beat oriented dj'ing and blended into a mountain of lap top live sets, which felt like a real "electronic body experience" the room was small and the speakers incredibly big and loud, the way it should be realy!
TB  played third, it was not as great as how we felt it in the afternoon, though we got some good response and had fun! right after us LEE GAMBLE blasted out these extreme lap top noise squirds, incredibly shaking and perfectly matching behind our analog psych bulb! in between or right after the shows SHELLY PARKER played some thick beats , swimming somewhere between ibm, electro and minimal soundstars, great, though too short, i think she played about 5 records, i will remember that she had a very nice sounding laughter as well.

unfortunatly the night was slightly overshadowed by JO THOMAS' lap top being stolen, it was her record release show and i am realy wondering who the hell has the guts to do something like this, it makes it even worst seeing how allon is giving away most of his records for free to people he likes, setting up the night for free and without money. it is absolutely a bummer and horrible to do something like this.

LEE GAMBLE will play live, and JOHN WALL as well! in between and afterwards there will be mostly electronic dj's! stoked!!

BAR MONDIAL, a live music bar in the old centre of antwerp is closing down on may first, they have to close down because of too much noise complaints. which is rather strange as the bar is in the middle of the loudest street in antwerp, a street where CAFE MERCATOR is throwing horribly loud eurohouse party's on every night! strangely those bars are no troublespots.
tonight at 18h a streetparty is on in front of the antwerp cityhouse to protest against antwerp changing into bokrijk.

MICHELE MATIJN has a one night show tomorow night at secondroom, the same space across from kinderdagverblijf t'steen as where lievoenk stamps had a one night show last week.




tomorow night BENJAMIN VERDONCK's kalender wit exhibtion opens at muhka. in the afternoon GERRY HERMANS has a book sale at that same museum, all his publications will be available for 5 euro.

tonight i am actually gonne see it again! and maybe tomorow again, we'll see, as there is a lot of work that has to be done at the new ultra eczema crib at the "from lazarusstreet" in antwerp, very stoked to move in there, though this means i wont be able to send out orders for a couple of more weeks! there will hopefully be a major UE update in the beginning of may! the FLORIS VANHOOF lp will be done by than as well!

aparantly NAKED LUNCH, one of the few books i've really read in my short life (i'm writing this "blog" in the afterlife, and i don't think i ever looked up the word "blog", i will do it in a second) got translated in dutch again, too bad, as it's the best possible way to learn english. probably it's overrated as well, though i fount it very enjoyable.
there's not much beelekes in that book though, i usually like books with a lot of beelekes in it!

HET ERWINNEKE is a caracter i know since about 15 years, when i started going to hardcore and punk shows there would always be a small man with glasses selling stuff no one ever heard of, later we'de find out it was all the early load stuff, dropdead, lightning bolt, arab on radar etc.. HET ERWINNEKE was always a little ahead of everyone's taste! digging deep into wave, synth madness, no wave etc, dude can teach you a little lesson there, his live shows were insane too, i saw the tiny man attack a jock at a ridiculous discoteque some years back with his guitar, the tense stare in his eyes made people poop their pants! finally some more attention goes to erwin now, he is showing his visual work (spontanious madness on paper) at an exhibtion at the wonderweg, a artcentre for autists. go see it! it runs until april 18nd or so! besides that LAL LAL LAL will publish a lp of his music this year as well!!

the terminal smile on my face has made place for a slaughterfield where ants, pimples, and mountains of meat that i collected at the biomarket (every second sunday at falcomplein) fight their way to sleepieland.
the last few days have been increcibly fun, totally unexpected. ultra eczema celebrated it's 13th bday party at scheldapen!

i was happy my friend allon kaye of the great uk label ENTRACTE came over with JACQUES BELOEIL, allon made a surprise bday ultra eczema entracte guest release which i am extremely blown away by!! it is jacques beloeil's record on entracte with a silkscreen over it, limited to 13 copies, all in different colour variations, so they are actually all original! this edition will be added to the ultra eczema catalog, and will carry the number E64!!!! (pics will follow asap)



the fest was opened by PETER FENGLER, who did a beautiful lecture about the german artist STEPHANE BLOTH, a lecture spiced with peter's own classic performers style; dance moves, cup cracks, and nudity of course.
than TOXOPLASMOSIS played their first ever live show! equally beautiful, i dont think i ever saw em do anything bad, toxoplasmosis is the duo of nate young (wolf eyes etc) and alivia zivich, who played bass which gave it a sort of nice velvets zoom, beats kicking in, tape psych and mouth harmonica!
JACQUES BELOEIL played as great as his records sound; carpets of panned casio lurking, throbbing almost idm styled beats etc, it made me danced as if there was a iron in my underpants!
the cherry on the cake was PIERRE ELITAIR(e), who's 7" release party it was! i seriously didn't laugh this much during a show in my whole life, absolutely no shyness, although he was super nervous before, he pulled it of grantly!!! the king of belgian acid pulled up other oldies on stage such as katia stonewood (who is also on the sleeve of the 7"), daniel de botanicus, acid marcske etc all going banana's to the double plesuare formule of the 303 and 606 machines, at some point he even started explaining how the machines work..



the dj sets were also pretty ecceptional, daniel did a duo set with dj raphael which made everyone stay until 8 this morning. 

in about 2 hours i will do a lecture at st lucas in ghent, JEF DAMES DOPE of possesed factory is a teacher there and invited me to do this. tomorow i am getting married, and on saturday we are celebrating &" YEARS OF ULTRA ECZEMA, with some nice guests such as JACQUES BELOEIL, responsible for my favorite lp of last year (on the great entracte label from london), and also partly responsible for a incredible show at the witte zaal in ghent, where firemen stopped the show..

last night we went to a show in ghent, a small village near antwerp, where HELVETTE opened up with a pretty nice hungover slowfolk sludge bengel nicely zooming in to my up and coming chimay vibe! i again forgot to get his kraak lp, though i heard it's good!

the reason we travelled down was because LITTLE CLAW was playing, a ex detroit, now portland guitar gloom, no wave blues, grunge type of band with my friend kilynn on vocals, it was years ago since i saw her, last was probably after the atp fest that thurston moore organised in the uk. she than played a radiosession with taylor of sunburned hand of the man. i never saw LITTLE CLAW and it blew my mind, total tightness, metal percussion, double vocals, feedback etc.. felt good to see a full band play, most things i see live seem to be solo's or something, and it absolutely rocked! perfect space for it too, no stage, a artist studio space or something, with non toilets and a sink filled with period blood, not super many people though a good amount of head shakers!

“Some sonic events do not qualify as “music” no matter how hard you shake them. That’s my feeling, anyway, and if it’s not yrs then I suggest that it will be once you’ve been subjected to the sound of this new release by Vom Grill.
The name itself is a trick, since the sounds are generated solely by the evil Belgian, Dennissssss Tyfusssssss. But naturally no one would even consider buying this things it it had Dennissssss’ name prominently attached, so they invented a fucking soubriquet for him – Vom Grill. What the fuck is that supposed to be? The name of Richard Meltzer’s new coffeeshop? Yeah, well – not hardly.
This particular Vom Grill abortion is a three track plunge into all that is annoying about Belgian food. The first course is like a melange of simpering, whining children, smeared with mayonnaise, croaking that they only want a peanut. It goes on for less than five minutes, but it feels like a week. The second track is Tyfusssss’ ignorant attempt to “just take a break, people.” He tries to calm the kids down by playing xylophone notes on his own rib cage, but he’s too fucking fat to pull it off, so he whistles mock-xylo notes while the kids fiddle around with some sort of pudding make from bread crumbs and gristle. Great. The final track is the sound of Vom being submerged in a vat of Belgian ale, bobbing to the surface with all his little electric thistles spinning while he burps for help. Like he really fucking wants it.
In my day if someone was heard uttering this sort of nonsense we’d shove a little broom up his and/or her ass and make him and/or her wear a rubber glove on his and/or her head. What does Nyoukis do? there is a new secret place in town, it is called BARABAS and it reminded me a lot of double trouble, a bar which mostly attracted freaks and their freak friends. BARABAS is located on a secret spot on the north side of antwerp. find it! it's open daily between 8 in the evening and 8 in the morning. they have strong drinks and blue chimay.

on the turtle of april we are celebrating 13 years ultra eczamen at scheldapen, with a live acid 7" single presentation by antwerps oldest dj, acid maniac, gainsbourg conaisseur, and general outsider PIERRE ELITAIR, a psychedelic casio set by the great JACQUES BELOEIL, a lecture by holland's only surviver PETER FENGLER, a synth/video set by TOXOPLASMOSIS and all electro(nic) dj sets by dj raphael and dj daniel! some surprises maybe as well, you never know as they are "surprises", i guess i just ruined the surprise..

 

it's rather strange and it would be a good idea to call a doctor as there's about 10 times more people at the POPCORN or LA BAMBA night's, these one song torture gardens, than at the usual ultra eczema nights. i hear you think "well they are 10 times more fun", maybe that is true, i wouldnt know as i have the feeling i only ran around all night long to find people that have to play at certain times.. it all of course didnt go as planned as people showed up too late, cancelled etc. but all in all i thought it was great, mostly thanx to the very pro and psycho soundguys CHRIST DELACOURT and DSR DAFT!!!

DANIEL DE WERELDVERMAARDE BOTANICUS arrived right on time on 10 cm high heels and pants made out of barbiehair with a ton of popcorn versions! all night long the man blew people's brain full of exploding maïs! IDA MADONNA opened with a live email check up and a test of the glasses, HEINI OBST' self made plopcorn suite exploded before arrival, he ate as much as he could while mumbling in the mic and setting up the grease style that would continue the rest of the night, by this time (around 9) the whole small stage and bar area were covered in greasy popcorn pieces and beer. ELKO B showed up without his buddy tim, so no AUTISTIK YOUTH set but a rabbit version of their take on popcorn, live drums, samples, teeth and jumps! CHRISTOPHE PIETTE, a favorite bxl zoner, slapped his face as hard as he could in the bar. BUFFALO SIMON cranked a dubcorn, VINCENT SNOOP & KEVIN APETOWN smoked out the kitchen with special kinds of popcorn cooking styles, i believe some of their ingredients were pili pili, tequilla, peanutbutter etc, it was a great attachment to the night, as KEVIN walked thru the venue giving them handmade bags away for free! the guy that does the website POPCORNSONG came over from holland and did a little wet dream lecture on the small stage. MIDNIGHT GALAXY a fightsy combo of emiel and roman hiele played a electro fried version, maybe one of the few ones that got away from your typical poppoppoppop thing.., DE LETTERLEGGERS made a great and "very worked on" video in their unmistakeble rubber letter graphic style! FLORIS VANHOOF made a tipi on stage with a hole in it blowing popcorn onto the audience, FLUT, the duo of rufus mich and harry heyrman were super hammered before arrival and blew up a giant yellow caracter that looked a lot like what a headache would look like if u could see it, REMORK played a great sludged verion over his lock groove with a distorted bass, JESSIE SHOTTHECATS made a spaced out film of a house filled with popcorn and kids eating it all while swinging boobs and other bodyparts around in it, like you could swim in it or something! FLEAMOUNTAINS was a guitar, bass, vocal duo playing a kind of kleinkunst version, MIAUX was dying to play for too long and then nailed it with a keyboard schnikie and a specially made hat! LODE GEENS was passing out free popcorn 7"s, HANTRAX did a electroknaller, BENJAMIN VERDONCK disapeared, BISSY BUNDER exploded with cheetos and and changed eyes into cheeks! CIRCUS BULDERDRANG looked like an overaged velvet parody and sounded equally great, LUDO MICH was radically against confusion and confused everyone by trying to devide male and female, MICHIEL & STEVEN had NARELLE DORE make sultan costumes for them and played a turkish sunn o)) version, FILIP VERVAET declared on stage that his gallery still owed him 200 euro, that's why he asked his new gallerist to sell a piece of sculptured popcorn on stage, it went for 10 euro! POSSESED FACTORY was mauro at his best; a no wave r&r version with jeroen of i love sara en jef dames dope! BE MY GUEST is not only a house in borgerhoutlijm, it's also a troupe of people living in there changing faces into animalheads, a beautiful version made with only typewriters they did! WHITE CIRCLE CRIME CLUB were most probably the only ones that didn't ask "when is it our turn", their turn was a very percussive filmsoundtrack for an achtervolging ruler! NEL & BERT AERTS turned the microphone to the audience and made everyone sing along to a karaoke film! FURNITURE CONVENTION zoomed a buttersoaked marshmellow one! CASA NERA made a poppenkast and played the cowboys they played on the cowboyspoppenkast with 2 banjo's! at around 7 in the morning RANI BAGERIA AND HANNO SCHNEGG did one hell of a beautiful synth dreun, W RAVENVEER taped his weirdness and made everyone stay till the last drop of beer fell into a stinky plastic cup (demand a glass!), STROHEIM finished it off and made sure the rest of the day the song ws stuck in between your ears and nose.

tonight is tuesday night, the weekend starts, and we can all be pretty stoked it starts with a film and lecture by CARY LOREN at cinema zuid, they didnt mention it on their webschnikes, as it was a very last minute thing, we forced him to come over to antwerp when we fount out he was in tilburg for a exhibtion. it starts at 8! (lakenstraat on the south of anvers)



i forgot that hardline elephants ever played until i received the SECRET MUSEUM OF NOISE 3 tape on bonescraper, the label of mountain psycho and noise nomad JEFF HARDFORD! besides another of his beautiful packagings and a recording of the strangest hardline elephants gig (in providence, where some guy decided to piss on the drums while i was "playing" em (the drums)) it also includes recordings by RATFUCKER, LAZY MAGNET, LIGHTNING BOLT, KITES, NOISE NOMADS, etc...  exciting!

something i can not keep my eyes off lately is the amazing books by DAISUKE ICHIBA!!!! i just got another one of them in paris last week at BIMBO TOWER, this one is larger than A3 size and is published in the UNITED DEAD ARTISTS series, published by BLANQUET! both this one and the one's that le dernier cri published are absolutely mind blowing!!

times flew by rather fast the last few weeks! the residency with the white snikkel kaas klup was very much fun, it felt like we missed out on this kind of real communication the last few years because of other ocupations. it sort of felt like a strange version of darkbrown feeling..



on thursday the KAOZ LILY exhibtion opened in berchem, a show currated by FIA CIELEN, based around mystical stuff. for this show i did a colab with my dad, EDDY TYFUS, who use to take a lot of photo's and slides.

my mind is still pretty bend from visiting VINYL DISQUES ET POCHETTES D'ARTISTES, a exhibtion of a selection from GUY SCHRAENEN'S incredible artist record collection at la maison rouge in paris. i drooled over a lot of the records there, the collection is huge, and at the very end of the show there's a booth where u can listen to most of them on headphones! both of GUY SCHRAENEN'S recent books (out of print- about small press, and VINYL, about uugh, vinyl) are a must have! as well as all the early releases they did in the 70's (the francois dufrene tripple cassette is re-issued as a tripple lp box set on alga marghen).

on tuesday CARY LOREN of DESTROY ALL MONSTERS will do a lecture titled "understanding destory all monsters from the bottom of the pool" and show a film titled BANZAI DETROIT. it starts at 8 at cinema zuid, aka the old muhka media (lakenstraat enterance), its a very very last minute thing, so spread the word!!



on wednesday the COSMIC PSYCHOS play somewhere in gierle!!

on thursday the WORKS ON PAPER GROUPSHOW opens at stella lohaus gallery, with new or recent work by KATI HECK, JOHN BOCK, ANGEL VERGARA and myself. i made 2 new big pieces for this show. 

tonight the yearly GAINSBOURG party is on, the only moment a year that i go to petrol! let's call it a tradition, that's probably the easiest.. PIERRE ELITAIR's funnest party besides tha quatorze juillet, where his gainsbourg collection shines so hard you can hardly see the burned cdr's of the other present dj.., years back this party use to be at a spannish bar with about 20 tv's all around with gainsbourg films, and of course elitair clips too. stoked!

cinema zuid has a new location, it is hidden somewhere between the schaambosjes in between scheldapen and pedrol! you'll first have to crawl thrue puddles of mud to get there but the cinema experience is incredible!

we saw a hilarious film yesterday on andy warhol's family in slovakia. bummer his young blonde niece, who makes croshayed versions of warhol's silkscreens and paintings, wasn't in it more.. that lady should exhibit in antwerp soon!

just retired from a retarded weekend. on thursday evening VOM GRILL opened at matthieu ronse's exhibit in brussels, mainly using 3 tape sets, a remodelled karaokemachine (built by REMORK!) and "vocals", i probably played the longest i ever played (meaning longer than 5 minutes..), next was matthieu and jef dames dope's band called FACENECK, guitar molesting and a dude rolling over the floor screaming, which reminded me of 90's emo hardcore shows.  REGRESSION, one of NATE YOUNG's projects ruled hard than with a psychedelic cymbal/drummachine/tapemachine etc set, great sparse weirdness!!! last up was SPYKES, who as always also drooled! loved the new instruments he built, one in particular: THE MAILBOX, a giant metal sheet, folded, with bolds in it and three different springs on top of it, like a giant metal guitar or something. it sounded brutally great! he played the side of it as well with another thick metal stick, using it like a bow.
nice champaign and beers too, not the champaign of beers though.

fried-day CASSIS CORNUTA's record release party was on at bar mondial, cassis remains my favorite belgian artist, the record he did for UE is re-inventing WEIRD and his show did that same thing!! he arrived with a huge set up: 6 korg synths, metals, isimo blocks, a 808 drummachine, a 303 bassline etc.. his set kicked off behind a sort of self constructed wall attacking metals, wooden blocks etc with a self built machine made out of bike particals and a chain, the chain would rip it all around.., slowly growing in to tape madness and some synth blurr over in to acid madness!! it was beautiful! also hilarious how many people asked him to sign the lp "should i sign it as cassis cornuta"..
HENDRIK HEGREY from paris arrived already pretty pretty pretty hammered and deejayed before that show and right after, mainly playing italo disco and scratching it non stop!  than NATE and OLSON played a duo set combining best of both worlds. in the beginning of the evening i thought not many people would show up as scheldapen also had a show which would attrackt the same audience, nevertheless both places aparantly were crowded! MATCHBOX JEANS creamed off the evening with another great lurid set of danceness!! when we left we carried hendrik out, and after 15 minutes outside someone we didnt know was like "hey i thijnk you're friend is only wearing one shoe".. i went back inside and fount hendrik's shoe.. the day after hendrik told me he also lost a sweater and his galsses there. i know there's a lot of hendrik fans out there, and i understand you wnane wear his glasses, do understand though that your favorite paris disco trumpetist can not realy see anything without them.. and send em back!

saturday JOKE LEONARE did the tyfus radioshow, as i joined the life is just a rip of crew to paris, the driver must have had a rough time hearing the song ALIVE by pearl jam in different versions on the back seeds for 4 hours.. the crowd in paris was the best of the 3 days, bolus showed up with his russian (ex)ladyfriend, who looked amazing with a sort of funky corpspaint, silver teeth, latex clothes etc, she screamed her lungs out during all the sets, danced with people's hair etc, some other guy had the greatest undescribeble dancestyle, which was mainly focussed on rolling over the stage and touching the amps..
also nice to see CAMERON JAMIE again, hearing inspiring story's about a dog-barber, crunchy black, rituals, morresey and marc gonzales, commedy records etc...
nice week(end)

last few days have been nokvol of brainwaves and ball tinklers at the residency with the wccc at scheldapen. we're mainly focusing on producing an index and will remain vague for a while towards de strangers. we also saw a strange film about MARTIN MOLONEY, who was almost my neighbour when i lived at villa delfia, although i never saw or heard the man when he was still alive. the film was never shown or distributed, it was a pure accident that we could see it. the film felt confronting as the artist was sort of testing the filmmakers, or at least thats how it felt to me. i've seen the filmmakers biking around here.

tonight (thursday) VOM GRILL will play at MATTHIEU RONSSE's show opening at almine rech gallery in brussels, FACENECK is matthieu and jef's band, which will play too! and  they also flew JOHN OLSON and NATE YOUNG over to play as SPYKES & REGRESSION, (on friday they play a duo set at cassis cornuta's record release party at bar mondial!!!). anyway, very stoked those champs will be here for their yearly visit!  for this show they also released a compilation 7".



meanwhile it looks like vedastus, lievoenk and safranic bart are having a ton of psychedelic fun at casa lina in spain, the residency in the mountains of spain where we worked on books and ate vincent's delicious stroepfood last summer.

tonight a nice acid psych folk bomb is exploding at BAR MONDIAL in the centre of antwerp! so be careful! it starts at 21h and a bunch of stoned pedestrians are playing: MV&EE, the husband and wife of weirdo folk from the northeast american valley's, and absolute ecstatic peace club classixxx! MICK FLOWER, the vibracathedral monk of drone madness, blew everyone's mind in a duo with corsano last year and is prepared to do the same tonight in solo ways! HEAD OF WANTASIQUET is celebrating his sunburned bday today and sees horses in his backyard when there's just mud and dust.., afterwards and in between the sets HANK THE DJ will spin some wheels! hank is a local drunk record collector that sells tubes out of his car!

last night daniel de wereldvermaarde botanicus and myself drilled over 1200 holes in his yet to come out lp (under his CASSIS CORNUTA moniker), this way you can play that lp in 4 different ways! every lp has a bunch of holes, all are unique! next friday this record will be released at the releaseparty at bar mondial! SPYKES and REGRESSION will play a colab set as well! hendrik from paris will dj, and de lange lozanna as well!

times flew by very quickly last week! a week long in rotterdam, it almost sounds like a punishment, though surounded by the right people (basicly just the great forces at DE PLAYER) it is a blessing! on friday PETER FENGLER drove to extrapool in nijmegen for a lecture/performance curated by DANIELLE LEMAIRE. extrapool remains a very strange place, it's increcible how it seems like there is never realy more then 10 people there although they show and do amazing shows and publish great books. peter's show was no exeption: hilarious tricks, deadpan jokes, and the difference between baroque and non baroque. good to chat again with the ever hilarious pijper of KAPOTTE MUZIEK frans de waard! (soon kapotte muziek celebrates it's 25th birthday), check frans' blob HERE!



saturday morning ANGELA SAWYER aka PREGGY PEGGY arrived, great hang out, and record hunt at the worm recordstore. the instalation i've made at de player opened on thursday although u could say that the saturday night moment was the main moment, it was also the only moment we could afford to hire 2 parrots, which were a vital part of the instalation, consisting out of 3 television face sets singing with/for the parrots, who could sing or klatter along..
the audience was half belgian half rotterdoomed i think, which made me very nervous to play. VOM GRILL opened the vocal night around 10 with a super 8 film with a live soundtrack, initially this film was gonne have parrots in it, though they looked more like donckey's. besides that, i did a longer throat blur along to 1 tv set and one side of the 10" that was released for this event. second set was REMORK, a chameleon that proved again he is the animal we all think he is.. a sort of industrial vocal build up, looped and echoed in all kind of ways, ending in a van morrison coversong.., than KHIAN SANDALEN was on, earlier that week he texted me he already had 4 nightmares about his show as he never played solo and with only voice, he usually is one turt of ZELDON POSTZIEGEL as a saxophonist. anyway, his show was mindblowing, at some point he started beatboxing, and i remember i looked up to see if he was using any tapes or other sources running along, weird unrhythmic beatbox far away from hip hop and with 3 sounds coming out of the same hole in his face! all this happened on a small stage behind the instalation of the parrots and tv's, than AWAWA performed underneath the parrots and without a microphone. he read a piece by EMMETT WILLIAMS and used his own alphabet for it writen down on small white papers layed out over a skinny piece of wood. it looked and sounded beautiful and as poetic as this lovely man's presence. i know i get carried away from time to time saying "this is the best thing of the year" and that it changes every few days, though this year i didnt say it yet, except for now; for me the PREGGY PEGGY show was the best of the year so far.. she sat down on stage and sung unearthly tones with candy in her nose while eating the same sort of candy and while drawing on her face, she did the strangest robotic soundpoetry version of cambodian rocks and made everyone dead silent! also she flew back home 4 hours later to open WEIRDO RECORDS again and host another show!

tonight the ALS MEN ER EEN VOD IN DUWT VOLGT ER EEN ONOMATOPEE exhibtion includes a all vocal event with boston based experimentalist, walking music encyclopedia and weirdo records host PREGGY PEGGY, alphabet inventor and general tickler of "the good" GUY ROMBOUTS, karma cameleon and multi instrumentalist REMORK, overjaarse vleesmuts VOM GRILL and young god KHIAN SANDALEN! it starts at 8h at de player and some colourful friends will be omnipresent!

yesterday's performance of PETER FENGLER was again incredible! the cheekbones hurt from laughing too much and the classic story's dripped out of mouths the whole evening. was pretty prettig to see FRANS DE WAARD and his hilarious negativity again and all the other extrapolen.
their new spot looks great and i was happy to scored some boxsets by raymond dijkstra and goodiepal at their store.

it has been a great week so far with an overflow of inspiring images, people and discoveries. thanks to EDWIN KARELS i got to see a bunch of things i've missed at the rotterdoom filmfeast, also it was good to hear some old skool industrial stories from this man and find a MAURICE LEMAITRE cassette in his pop up store (which you should visit! it is next to the doelen in rotterdam during the fest!) because i didn't buy tickets in advance.. almost everything is sold out, so cinema's are super crowded with dutch meat babbling over every moving image they sense.. i think ST aka "nothing but hair" would go banana's in these film theatres, at least i am! every sound that's produced in the film, some fool in the audiance has to repeat.. well i make it sound bad now, but luckily there's some sort of stall where u can watch a lot of things you missed on a little screen. i saw ANOTHER GIRL ANOTHER PLANET  by MICHAEL ALMEREYDA there, which i very much enjoyed. it is completely filmed on a fisherprice camera which makes it a strange black and white carpet of psychedelic no wave blocks and pixels! the story etc reminded me of early ninetees deadbeat hang outs listening torecords. perfect!

we ended up a few times at the bar of this hotel called central, a rather beautiful bar with deep coughes, wooden wallwork, and a tiny bar covered in smoke and coctailfluits..

i also very much enjoyed setting up my exhibtion and absorbing the player work ethic and energy! a space like this is truely missed in antwerp! factor 44 was pretty compareble but is gone now too. anyway, its always inspiring to see these people and they way they work. tonight this place's owner PETER FENGLER will perform at extrapool in nijmegen in a series of actions curated by danielle lemaire!

i also loved last night's TAZARTEZ GHEDALIA and US GIRLS performances at worm!

the filmfestival is not organised for people who dont order everything in advance on the interwebster long.. so hm, i missed a dozen of great stuff but might try to catch up. in the mean time we worked on the exhibtion at the player, i drew 10 recordsleeves with my mouth and the juices that come out of it for a vom grill lathe cut limited to 10 copies!!!

the exhibtion opens tomorow afternoon if we can finnish it..

i saw harmony korine's TRASH HUMPERS, and although visstroep thinks theres too much trash humping in trash humpers i think it is absolutely great and nesesary!! i would like to compare it to a calmer "even dwarfs started small" or a sparse and home made vhs gummo, i especially liked korine's irritant laughing and singing as a cameraman, it reminded me of the recordings of his band with brian degraw called SSAB SONGS, the actors without masks were always a welcome refreshment, and the general suburban boredom felt like gum, glue or velcro.

also nice about the filmfest is the popup store, a place where lectures, films,books etc are shown for a smaller audience.

i went to a farm in geeraardsbergen with photographer NATALIE WYNANTS to film COCO THE PARROT on super 8. while we were hanging out a little, the parrot decided to take off.. so instead we filmed a donkey which was equally fun.

check out the amazing haunting sound of THE SOUND OF POT, a project of CONRAD CAPISTRAN, straight from the smelly armpit of north-east america's mountains! conrad also plays in TARP, a synth project with JOSHUA BURKETT, and in a dozen of other stuff. besides that he has a way of laughing that will make you laugh even if the joke is not funny, it's hard to explain i guess.



on saturday CHANGEZ, (EEN BELGENSHOW) opened at 21 rozendaal in een schede! a show of contemporary belgian art, although half of them are german and dutch. some good people in it for sure, such as benoit plateus, lievoenk stamps, kati heck, nick hullegie, etc.. i have made a zine for it which will be there in a few weeks or so. aparantly the opening of the show went great, mirrors got destoryed at hotels, artists tried to beat eachother up, some people spent the night in prison.

ANDRE SMITS is a dutch man who is taking portraits of artists' backs in their studio. he passed by here this week and took a photo. he also visited floris vanhoof, last saturday we only broadcasted floris' music in our radioshow, listen HERE!

very sad news; jacques ambach, aka JACK THE RAPPER, died on januari 16th. this true performer will be greatly missed!!! a smart man that never wanted to grow up, trapped in a locked groove of fun! when there was more than one person around jack he was automatically performing, usually dressing sharp in hawai shirts, when you were alone with him you could get lucky and hear amazing wild story's about the vienna actionists, the 1000's of women he slept with, the shows he did, the mountain of people he played with etc! when u did something for him he would never forget you, be grateful and honest, he would change negative situations into fun. he played in ludo mich' best known film LYSISTRATA, played with his brother boogieboy in AMBACH CIRCUS, changed found flyers of jelle crama into his own pieces of art by just signing them, was a loving dad, always joked about being jewish or other people's nationality or sexuality etc.. and fuck, he wrote a hell of a great party hit called CAFE AU CHOCOLAT! rest in peace jack!!!

yesterday i visited PETER FENGLER and ANNEMIEK of the player in rotterdam! not many dutch people inspired me in the past, though these one's make me walk on the tips of the few toes i have left! the player is an artist space in rotterdam focusing on the small smegma area between art, sound and music. they publish lathe cut editions, produce shows and present their nights more spicey then the gringos's spiciest dish. between februari 4th and 7th i will show an instalation there focussing on oral works and hopefully parrots, 2 lathe cuts will be produced and a all vocal event will happen on februari 6th. more about that later!

joris willems, who was a part of redactietijd on radio centraal (the show right before mine)  lives in haiti and magically survived nature's cruel attack, luckily!

Ik leef nog, en ik kan u vertellen dat ik daar blij om ben. Ik stond
recht op mijn dak op het moment van de aardbeving, en werd gewoon tegen de grond gesmeten, ik greep me vast aan enkele van de bouwijzers, zag een quasi vol waterreservoir van 1500 liter op mijn dak dansen, stofwolken die opdoken in dat prachtige zicht op de stad en de baai van Port-au-Prince dat ik had, ik hoorde gillen, krijsen, gebouwen vallen, ook van huizen van mijn naaste buren en dan enkel nog stof en nog eens stof. U weet, ik geloof niet, ik bad niet, maar ik smeekte dat mijn huis overeind zou blijven. 35 seconden die de stad verwoesten... Als het beven stopte rende ik de trap af de straat op, riep mijn buren hetzelfde te doen, die deden dat sowieso al, biddend...

De stad ligt werkelijk in puin. Ik weet niet welke beelden jullie
intussen te zien kregen, maar geloof me vrij, in Port-au-Prince staat
nauwelijks nog een gebouw recht dat geen zware scheuren vertoont, als het nog rechtstaat. De lijken liggen ingewikkeld in doeken op de straten, worden in vrachtwagens afgevoerd naar massagraven, de rottingsgeur begon zich woensdagavond al te verspreiden. Er is geen water, geen electriciteit. De hulp komt aan op de luchthaven, maar waar te beginnen ? Hoe moet je prioriteiten stellen in zo'n situatie ? De mensen hebben gelukkig de gewoonte waterreservoirs te hebben (emmers, culligans,...) dus overleven wel een paar dagen. Mensen, althans in mijn buurt zijn bijzonder solidair. Maar hoe zit dat morgen en overmorgen ? Wat als het eten op is ? Wat als er gewoon geen water meer is ?

Ik heb intussen al het eten, verband, water dat ik in voorraad had aan mijn buren geschonken bij wie ik de eerste nacht op straat verbleef, de hele nacht histerisch biddend bij elke naschok. woensdagnacht sliep ik op het terrein van de franse ambassade: de histerisch biddende mensen in mijn straat hadden me een hele nacht wakker gehouden en ik moest slapen om te kunnen denken de dag nadien. Ook daar weinig geslapen: een histerie op de Champs de MArs (hét grote plein van Port-au-Prince waar velen zich hadden verzameld) over een mogelijke vloedgolf, vervolgens een eerste evacuatie in het holst van de nacht: mensen met kinderen,
zwaar gekwetsten.

Deze nacht slaap ik voor het eerst weer op een matras in een huis zonder scheuren in Petionville, iets boven Port-au-Prince, bij de
verantwoordelijke van Broederlijk Delen, samen met nog twee andere belgen. Het B-fast team is aangekomen, ik ga morgen kijken hoe we hen kunnen helpen. Ik stel het wel, maar ben zoals iedereen hier geschokt door de gebeurtenis. Later meer.

tonight the first ultra eczema event of the year is on, not that it means anything, i mean, it does not matter at all that it's the first one, though i have to say i couldn't sleep out of excitement for tonight's show, a while ago i met gino coomans, a 12 year old psycho playing chello in sheldon siegel, the youngest free jazz gang in town, he told me his dad use to play free music as well, after some babbles i got my hands on some old recordings by his dad LEO COOMANS, absolutely mind bending loner basement styles, weird vocal tones shaking up a aerosol anti astma machine etc.. those recordings were from 1978, and in the past months leo searched and found a aerosol machine for tonights show. he will play solo for a part, and will than be acompanied by sheldon siegel.
before all that MILAN W will play a solo set, and afterwards MUSKETFLICKAN and DIRTY SATAN will dj! all at bar mondial (suikerrui 13, antwerp)

LEO COOMANS searched for the same astma machine he used on the lp in the 70's and found it!! he'll play solo for a part and will than be acompanied by sheldon siegel. yesterday KOEN THEYS visited with a suitcase full of tapes of his old noise/industrial/weirdo project with DIRK PAESMANS called VOTNIK. ultra eczema will release a compilation lp of their early material, which sounds great, raw radio static, yelling, noise and a lot of primitive collage music. other new releases coming this year; noise nomads lp, cassis cornuta lp, frieder butzmann 7", an acid house pierre elitair 7", kris vanderstraeten lp, nuslux lp, popcorn cover compilation lp, kraus lp etc..

the great provocator and poet HERMAN J CLAEYS passed away on december 29. RIP!!!!!!!!!!!!! he threw a bye bye party at de dolle mol in bxl 2 weeks before, as he knew his cancer was spread out too widely to survive. peter terryn made a AUDIO TRIBUTE.



at 2 i will broadcast some of my favorite records of last year, and, i am proud to anounce that i became a godfather, a godfather of blaastaal, so bert lezy will read his new years lettre on the radio too.

and i was stoked to read tom lax of siltbreeze' review on the KITO MIZUKUMI ROUBER lp ultra eczema released.

i am back home from a realy crazy trip to italy. some things didnt go the way i would have wanted them to go, though it was such a great time. the things that didnt go the way they should go were related to my exhibtion there, i wanted to make drawings with food, though i am a pretty horrible cook haha.. i also did a lot of drawings so in the end i blew up a bunch of those up and hung them in the first room, acompanied by a landscape mural.

the 3 days of struggle festival was great!! i was not nervous to play, which might have been the first time.., i again of course also thought i played for a half an hour, but straight after people asked "why did u only play 6 minutes".., my favorite shows of the weekend were SISSY SPACEK, LAGO MORTO, BURIAL HEX and WW. a lot of low stage diving and fistpumps all around and such a nice group of people attending the festival.




the last day there i finally visited the exhibtion of PIER, which was not realy an exhibtion but realy his everyday life situation. nico vascelari drove by his insane looking house full of outdoor sculptures and stone nightmare dolls and saw a sign saying "massages".. nico thought, "damn i need a massage by that guy", turns out that the man is specialised in tightening asses more then massaging men.. anyway, his house is full of sculptures, christmas stalls, a cowboy salloon and massage photos. beautiful that was. reminded me of hjuler in a way, though less organised and very very far away from the police or any other authority.

today the THREE DAYS OF STRUGGLE FESTIVAL starts here in vittorio veneto. i've been having a great time here so far working and eating muset. unfortunatly the idea of making a exhibtion of tyfus candy didnt work out. we made sugar iced cookies first that worked out great, but waking up the day after they all looked like someone had licked them all night or something.. very mooshie..
anyway, SAVE THE LAST POGO FOR ME will anyway have a ceiling fan and a ton of paper and psychedelic prints for you to enjoy plus tonight VOM GRILL will annoy the hell out of you too.

i made a shirt of a found photo (from a italian educational magazine from the 50's) of a lady holding a teddybear. there's 18 shirts and 7 hoodies made of those.

i became a baker, and a binnenhuisarchitect in iatly. underneath you can see the people that help me with stuff.

in between destroying my repro pens on glossy paper (as the apeman states glossy paper is bad for the repro penis) we went to a bakery today in the village center, it looked like a bakery from a 50's film. the owner was a tall guy that looked like an italo patrick haemers. we asked if he could help with making a certain type of cookies with faces on it etc.., his reply was dry and legendary: we make good product, art doesnt belong on good product, it should be seperate..

later today i joined giovanni to a rehearsal of FANTAMATRES at stephano's apartment. stephano is a little older, and did projects in the past with costes, theatro satanico etc.., we entered his apartment,  the first room we enter is full of instruments piled up around a small christmas tree, the first thing he said was "i am not a musician". while i am drawing in the couch, they start recording bells, acordions, guitars etc into a loop station attached to a cardboard guitar.., for every instrument he played, he pulled out another look. first he dressed in a white elvis outfit with a plastic hairdo.., then for the slideguitar session he had an armyhelmet on.. etc. it was hilarious. then he showed me his paintings, giant frosties van kellogs boxes, a black woman, an american flag. amazing weirdness! underneath you can see a super 8 video of his from years ago.

i have the best possible view here at the table i am working at, watching giant mountains and barking dogs, and it feels great to be able to focus on things and allow some strangeness such as a first ever visit to a turkish bath and a sauna, eat gnocci, crushed cake and working on a 80 minutes loop for the pogo pogo exhibtion.
thanx to mussolini's great idea to dub all foreign tv and movies, no one besides the people i stay with speak english. we visited the venue where THREE DAYS OF STRUGGLE will happen, a nice wooden floor, great wine bar and generous people, GIO bummed in to this punk girl he knows since ages, she took us to her car which was full of self made furniture and a lizard, all made out of bike tires.. she gave me a belt made out of tire as well.

i am very much looking forward to LAGO MORTO at the 3 days fest, this band's rule is to only play in vittorio veneto, a rather small village. at some point they did a 15 days tour in this village, playing wash sallons, pizeria's, shops etc.. the first night 10 people showed up and the last night 500 people were going out of their minds. they remind me of los crudos!

i arrived in treviso on saturday night, the bonkers of codalunga picked me up and kidnapped me to a morocan restaurant that had the strangest art on the walls, such as a giant white canvas with a black guy holding a glass spraypainted on it saying "am i a racist is i drink white wine".. it only got better when a bunch of bellydancers danced between the tables.

sunday morning we went for a walk in venice which was beautiful, and then off to vittorio veneto, where i will mostly work on a exhibtion titled "save the last pogo for me". vittorio veneto is a small town/village in between a bunch of mountains, it sort of reminds me of a idilic northampton or something. i was lucky to arrive when i arrived as SEIJIRO MURAYAMA played a solo show at codalunga yesterday. it was absolutely mindbending, crazed repetitive snare and hi hat plus voice weirdness.

i will be doing a residency at CODALUNGA in vitorrio veneto in italy for a few weeks, leaving tomorow. the result should be an exhibtion titled SAVE THE LAST POGO FOR ME. a rather selfish title, i know..
the exhibtion is a part of the second edition of the THREE DAYS OF STRUGGLE FESTIVAL, a rather awesome alternative for italian christmas.



a small bummer is that i'm missing the TROPISCH EXCUSE release party tomorow at scheldapen! a great happening presenting this beautiful stencil printed zine + cdr!

on wednesday night i will do a live mprovised radio show in brussels. on the flyer i seem to be from holland.. NICO DOCKX will also do something, he's also dutch.

what we saw last night at de witte zaal in ghent, might be the strangest performance of the year..
DE WITTE ZAAL is a quite strange place anyway (see picture), it is sort of like a hall, but with a lot of open side "doors" or holes, that could also be windows without windows as they're a little higher then the floor. the parts behind those halls can also be seen as a weird wooden stage or sit down zone..
for yesterday's show on this ENTRACTE night, JACQUES BELOEIL and  MICHAEL ANACKER were sort of hidden behind one of these side holes/doors/windows. a red projection was shined onto another wall of the space, and out of every side space a smoke machine was blowing the space full of smoke while they played these beautiful delayed droned electronic soundscapes. at some point a wiwiwiwiwiwiwiwiwiw sounds joins in, perfectly synchronised with a casio beat and the other electronic sounds. the audience was left confused, didnt know where to look and standing all over the clouds, which already looked so alien. the soundtrack got more and more intense and some people started walking around totally stressed. narelle whispered "i think the wwiwiwiwwi" is the fire alarm. it kept on going for so long and we both decided "no it cant be the fire alarm as the volume changes".. 2 minutes later a mountain of firemen ran into the venue with strong white lights, while the show just went on, climbing on the walls trying to find the fire alarm..
this went on for a while and they just couldnt find it. it was beautiful! outside the blue lights of their car shined all over the cloudy space. it was all realy absurd and one could think that this was all a part of the show.

this afternoon i will join BENJAMIN VERDONCK as zwartepiet for one of his kalender actions!

tonight the great uk based label ENTRACTE is doing a night at de witte zaal in ghent!!! JACQUES BELOEIL, who is responsible for one of the best casio psych lp's of this year will play there with the german MICHAEL ANACKER, and long time no hear, LEGOWELT will play a analog synth nest! very excited about that.

tonight ERROR ONE is happening all over the south of antwerp. SYLVESTER ANFANG are playing at kmsk, VAAST OLSON is doing something, and the pretty funny JOS DE GRUYTER AND HARALD THYS as well!

on sunday late afternoon ANDREA CAMMAROSANO said the magic words "i need to pick up my dildo and hometrainer for the performance tonight". we went to this apartment of an s&m mistress completely dressed in a black latex dress, she was very nice, "come in, i'll look for your dildo", she couldnt find it straight away as the dildo was black and everything else there was also black. she took her time to find it and on the background i all of a sudden notice a naked chained man hanging from the ceiling.
back to scheldapen where the night was sort of starting, a bunch of people showed up, actually it was even a rather good turn out for a sunday! WOMEN IN THE WOODS opened up with a beautiful soundscape/ambient/voice/ drone piece backed up by a giant pile of different shaped amps! in the mean time LLIURE BRIZ filmed the stage and turned into something else on a screen in the bar. then andrea did his dance performance in a jockstrap, no real pants and a giant white afro.. on the background a video was projected of him dancing in his livingroom with a "legalise gay" shirt. he was dancing and riding the hometrainer with a black dildo on the saddle. some photo's will come soon!
then MARC ROSSIGNOL didn't show up, and GRUZEMAEYER did something under marc's name.. i dont think anyone noticed it was someone else. he did an inprovised performance with a lot of nuts and aluminum paper..
in between and afterwards i played some pre recorded mixes from old daniel/dennis dj sets.

tonight CREEP STREET is on at cafe HOMEY! 

tonight the ULTRA ECZEMA VOLKSBIJEENKOMST is on! strangely i've been hearing that it either starts at 2 in the afternoon, WHICH IS OF COURSE NOT TRUE, or that is a "afterparty", which is also definatly not true..
the truth is that tonight will be more based on "performance" or whatever you want to call it than on music, only one band is playing; the italian WOMEN IN THE WOODS, besides that, ANDREA CAMMAROSANO will test his physics, measured with a video screening. LLIURE BRIZ is from spain and will do a live silent colourfilm, and the brussels based MARC ROSSIGNOL will bring a special guest who aleady did an amazing performance last year..!

very exciting to see a bunch of 17, 18, 19 and 20 year olds starting to put out beautiful stuff! i just got the MILAN W: vol 1 cassette, and it is seriously amazing! psychedelic guitar carpets, bill nace like distruction, sparse instrumental sadness and a b side that opens with a early sounding felix kubin style. it's packed in a cover design by JOKE LEONARE, his eyepopping ladyfriend, who also just released the great TROPISCH EXCUUS compilation cd + zine! order both from them at warmoesmilan@hotmail.com

tonight lievoenk stamps and bart from dike have a duo exhibtion opening in berlin.

although it doesnt matter at all, i'm pretty confused about the blurring of week days and weekends. it should be the other way around, that's for sure!
london was great! there was a good amount of people at the ue night, it's difficult to say something about the VOM GRILL live show besides that the people from the venue were unhappy about a table i used to smash glass on with hammer. they also made it sound like i did it to offend them, which truly was not the case! you could also wonder what would happen if someone asks for the combination of a table, glasses and a hammer..
ORPHAN FAIRYTALE 's set was again beautiful! her live work always seems to get better and better, a mix of her almost dance styled eekhoorn X contributions and the melancholic casio freedom! i never saw CHRIS CORSANO do a bad live set, and chances are that i never will see him play bad. this show was no exception!!

the day after we visited SECOND LAYER, a great, well organised record shop for experimental and avant garde music, and the TATE, which showed a POP ART GROUP SHOW where i was specifically blown away by the COSEY FANNI TUTTI nudity and of course the bunch of KIPPENBERGER works. they also had a JOHN BALDESSARI show on, i mostly enjoyed the old video's and photo's there.




what made the trip especially worth going was hanging out with ALLON of ENTRACTE records, JACQUES BELOEIL, LUKE YOUNGER, PETE JOHNSTONE and WAYNE, who set up our show. i went home with another mountain of amazing records, and so far been mainly adicted to the JACQUES BELOEIL lp on entr'acte, amazing, strange, sort of dark but happy casio pre set psych! a little like BENJAMIN FRANKLIN but darker or something.
i also got to hear a certain DJ ORDEAL, who aparantly makes hand made edition lp's, limited to 100 copies and sells em for 2 pounds.., the record i've heard of his was a bootleg a side of a old weird lady blues lp, and a remix of that on the b side! stunning!!!
the entr'acte guy also saw that i was short on clothes and dressed me in red and black right before i planned to attend the eurostar fully nude. 

on tuesday night VOM GRILL, ORPHAN FAIRYTALE and CHRIS CORSANO will play at café oto in london!



JOKE LEONARE made a book + compilation cdr and is starting a label! the first issue is called TROPISCH EXCUUS and will be presented at scheldapen on december 12. the cdr includes tracks by DANIEL DE WERELDVERMAARDE BOTANICUS, REMORK, LOUIS HIELE, EEKHOORN X, FRANKIE FAES & THE DREAMERS, PETER FENGLER, etc..



YANNICK VAL GESTO, a small morocan kid from tekiela had to "confront an artist" with his work for a school project. we made a colaborative silkscreen and a recording together which will be shown at st lucas on wednesday.

NEL AERTS' exhibtion "one with the medicine men" opens today at pocketroom! on 5.30 she will do a performance there!

uugh aah, what a great week! saw great shows, videoprojections, dj's, hundebissers, presto's and DRACULA LEWIS in bologna, HAINE in paris, jonas in lyon, a lot of dog poop and le dernier cri's amazing studio in marseille, a lot of tim & erik, etc... the best night remained the antwerp show of wednesday the turt! it's hard to "top" 4 or 5 naked lady's dancing after a hair police and floris van hoof show! speaking about FLORIS VAN HOOF; this great video artist has a show opening tonight at grambacht in mechelen! hair police will do their last euro set over there and i can already smell both the exhibtion and the live mess is gonne rule steve brule!!

it seems that "the classics" sort of ruled last weekend's colour out of space festival for me! i liked the unconfortable beauty of SIGTRYGGUR BERG SIGMARSSON, the brutal freedom of the NOBLE/WILKINSON DUO, the most akward stand up kaufmanic show by JUSTICE YELDHAM, the colourful spaced out set by JU SUK REET MEATE & OBLIVIA, the deadpan dry of STEN HANSON and the amazing burst of energy of BILL ORCUTT & PAUL HESSION.
