Een part in de gang, de rol van mijn leven.

Last weekend's trip to Brighton was wonderful. I drove there with Niels Beyt Al Tapes, Pauwel "Bucky" De Buck and Gerard Herman, to test various sorts of cheese and award winning sausage rolls royces, and to visit the Colour Out Of Space Festival that Karen Constance and Dylan Nyoukis set up since 2006, when they feel like it. This was the 8th edition, i think i've only missed one. COOS has a different feel than any other festival, it has a very distinct personal program, soaked in love for table top goof noise that also takes up most space in their own Chocolate Monk label, who published over 400 releases, mostly cdr's, of this kind of earwax. And it seems like after one day or so, everyone present knows eachother in one way or another. Like a family party. These gatherings of international maniacs that all share a love for odd sound are as rare as a wolf at a sculpture park. My personal highlights were: Beyt Al Tapes' bicycle gig (i had not seen him do this before, and it dragged the attention from the stage to the middle of the room and to his "sexnose", dripping with sweat), Alvarius B's rendition of Frank Sinatra JR;'s "Black Night", the red red wihine of Jérome Noetinger, who's incredible revox gig blew everyone i ever saw perform with this machine out of the water (!), Tomutonttu's dance gig, Luke Younger's strange questions to complete strangers, and the distorted reggae dancing at a completely different pub afterwards with the Finnish crew, Wild Rani and Duncan Harrison. This weekend was a most welcome break from working on PEDANT, a monthly zine we are making to anounce the activities of De Nor. The first issue will be out this weekend and available at the door of the feast for 22 years Ultra Eczema at Het Bos!
