Ouch, that was a strange bunch of weeks..

About 2 weeks ago we got to hear from our landlords (AG Vespa aka the city of Antwerp) that Ercola, the house we live and work in, is concidered inhabitable and that we are forced to leave within 2 (!) months. There's a few things you need to know about Ercola: it is a classified building in the centre of town that this artist collective is taking care of since 48 years. Without us it would have been destroyed many decades ago already. It is a sort of social centre that connects lots of young and old people in this small part of the cty centre. the same way as a bar like Café De Kat does here too. It houses many artist studio's for people that could colour the "Vlaamse Canon" a little, such as Luc Deleu, Ria Pacquée, Wannes Van De Velde, Ferre Grignard, and more recently Pinkie Bowtie and Clap Trap.
Next to it's inhabitants, lots of people in the area, but also politicians and lawyers contacted us when they heard the news to express their grief. And today we got a phonecall to tell us that they re-looked into it and allow us to live and work here for three more years!

Let's celebrate!

On a different note: Miaux's new LP got reviewed in Humo. It's quite sad to see what happened to that magazine, with a 6 page interview with one of the worst pieces of scum in recent Belgian history.

And on yet another note: You can see Charline Tyberghein's exhibition 'Born To Be Mild' at Gallery Sofie Van De Velde until sunday!

Meanwhile i have finished reading:
Wim de Bie : De Liefde Van De Buis (De Harmonie)
(Fantastic, hilarious book by the Dutch king of satire!)

Victor Bockris/Gerard Malanga : Up-tight The Velvet Underground Story (Omnibus Press)
(Lots of insight in the Factory period and the inter personal relations of a bunch of speedy up tight folks of the best rock n roll band ever. The therm 'Up-tight' is almost on every page, which is a little much.. Like in that book of Ruud De Ridder)
