Tomorrow evening PITA will perform a last minute live gig at De Nor! He happens to be in Antwerp to work on a soundtrack for a dance piece. For those who don't know, PITA is also known as Peter Rehberg, residing in Vienna, though a Englishman originally. Peter runs the great Editions Mego label.

Thanks to everyone that performed during the first FREE JAZZ MIDDELHEIM festival last weekend! I don't know if i ever want to hear a musician play their own instrument again, and we are already talking about next year's edition, which will be 4 days long and with a 100 musicians and artists playing!

A few highlights for me:
- Playing a duo with Lieven Segers, who (rightfully) did prefer not to see me the last half a year.
- The general hyper active love of Stephane Schraenen.
- Liesbet Swings and Cel Overberghe duo on Saturday
- Gerard Herman and Wim De Busscher duo on Saturday
- Playing with Margarida Garcia and Luke Calzonetti on Friday, all of us had instruments we really did not want, and what are the chances we would ever play as a trio.
- Ali Janka of the Austrian artist group Geletin was in town for a panel talk at Middelheim, when i in that same panel talk had to explain what Free Jazz Middelheim was, he instantly wanted to join. His gig with Lieven Martens was grand.
- The enthusiasm, trumpet and harp playing of Kris Vanderstraeten on Friday.
- The trio of Jan Matthé, Milan W and Ria Pacquée on Friday
