When one runs a label, often, complete strangers send you short or longer messages about releasing their music. Sometimes these messages are rude, in a "you should put this out" style, and very often they are charming "i love your label" style. Some great things come out of that, such as, for example, loads of the records on Entr'acte, Allon Kay's label, who almost solely works with demos. I never released anyone's demo if i remember correctly, mostly  because i prefer knowing the people i work with personally, yet another example of how un-free and stubborn a label ue is, sorry to dissapoint! This morning a demo made my day though, one by the Australian 'Ukulele Ewie', who stumbled upon the Ultra Eczema website a little while ago, and decided to hang out for a while.. listen HERE. It totally made my day.

Speaking of which, Allon Kay actually just came by, partly to watch me sleepwalk. He left me this great first LP by Jon Doe One, which was actually sent to the ue demo quarters as well a while back, and i'm very happy this is out! Jon Doe One is the solo moniker of Hannes D'hoine, long time member of DAAU, and a quite known Antwerp based double bass player. This record has some sort of clean prog atmosphere wiped all over it. A perfect evening jammer!

Another favorite recent Belgian release is the s/t cassette of Pauwel De Buck aka "Bucky De Buck" on the zoned out Ghent based Kerm label! Pauwel is one of the heads of the long running Kraak label, but he also makes sensitively collaged electronic compositions. The A side of this tape is fantastic, driven by a sort of "non" beat, probably made with his voice, topped with some sparse loops i think.
